*sigh* This question gets asked at least once a month it seems.
Short answer.
It can't be done.
Long answer, it can be done, if you can get a controller board, are good with electronics and can do some soldering. It isn't just a matter of just plugging in a cable.

You'd have to find the pin layout of it I think.
I think that interface is LVDS which can be converted DVI I think..... I'm not entirely sure.
This may help http://www.montest.com/technote.html#DVI

thats a handy link but, sadly,(I say sadly because this wa my plant too, but no luck, here is why, the interface between the dvi or svga or anything for that matter is far too different, it requires a seperate piece of software embedded into a chip between the display panel and the card/port you're plugging it into, ontop of propper routing... in any case, it probly wouldn't be worth it unless you could program it to run at a realtime refresh rate otherwise you'd be waiting up to 2 seconds for a full refresh even interpolated, I've got tons of links, heres a few that are almost handy: lvds-fpd (http://www.national.com/nationaledge/may01/lvds.html)
intro to FPD (http://www.national.com/an/AN/AN-1032.pdf)
LVDS Display Interface (LDI) TFT Data Mapping for Interoperability with FPD-Link (http://www.national.com/an/AN/AN-1127.pdf)
those are about the best resources you can find on the actual link between lvds and FPD, problem is I think you'll be hard pressed to find info on FPD to dvi/svga without some major programming knowledge couples with circuitry production.
p.s. the admins should make this thread a sticky that way it doesn't keep coming up, I didn't ask because I did that one thing that everyone gets so mad when ppl don't do it, I searched....

Basically: It can be done, but it would be much cheaper and much less of a hassle to go with a normal monitor or one with an s-video or RCA output.

I've got an old pci video card I dug out, I'm going to see if I can do any fancy routing without blowing up the screen

Easiest way to Do what you want is with one of EarthLCD.com's Analog VGA Controller Cards (http://store.earthlcd.com/LCD-Products/Analog-VGA-Controller-Cards) Costs about $150.00 us + shipping....... NewEgg has 19" Widscreen Viewsonics with 5ms refresh for $189.00 with $15 shipping....... Spend the extra cash and buy the new monitor.
But make sure to properly Recycle that LCD at a hazardous waste recycling center (the back light contain Mercury, and the solder probably contains Lead)
If you do use the Controller Card Let us know how it works...I've been thinking about using one myself!

I just started getting into "exploring" LCD monitors, but that controller looks just like the LCD controller in your standard LCD monitor. I would say if you can, find a cheap LCD monitor and take the controller out of it. I didn't look into doing this at all, just looked at the link crazybillybob posted. I'd be willing to bet that it works. I didn't plan to remove mine, but I can if it would show what I am talking about. and just because it's another reason to pull something apart. :)
I hope I am onto something here....as long as someone else here hasn't thought of it.

Controllers are specific to each LCD panel. I tried to get a custom controller BIOS flashed for a 27" HDTV lcd that I pulled from a tv with a dead power supply, but after a week back and forth with a company in Florida (Digiview) it was just deemed too costly (approx $700 USD) to justify it for one LCD.
If I had 10 panels, and needed 10 controllers, the first one would cost $700, and the rest would cost $100. That custom bios is what was killing me..
SO to sum up, not all controllers are compatible with all LCDs. :)

Sorry, wasnt trying to destroy your dreams, just wanted to let you know that it *might* not work. You can still try it out.. the only thing to watch for is that if the controller powers the panel, or powers the ccfl inverter also, you dont want to use it if the voltage is different. Some panels use 12v, some use 24v for the inverter. Plug a 12 into a 24 and you get a light show. 24 into a 12, and you get nothing. On that same note, some panels use 6v, some use 12v.
Google the panel model number and the controller model, and find the specs. If things match up, go for it. Hey, you might be pleasantly suprised.
..or electrocuted. ;)
