I've been meaning to do another demon/devil project ever since I sold my Paradise Lost case. So here we start again.

I bought a human spine prop and a devil skull to mount on an old Dell. 1st I attached the base of the spine to the bottom of the right side.

I just used a nut to hold it on the reverse side.

These cool needle loop looking things actually came with the spine. They held the tail bone to the hips which I removed.

I used them on the right panel to aid in holding down the spine.

The first looks a little off with all the negative space on the left, and everyone has rectangle windows, so my vote is a combination of the two. Maybe like the design of the first, but a smaller window to the left? Just to get rid of some of that open space.

But out of the two if those are what you're sticking to, I'd say the first. It's still more interesting.

here is another idea, you could do the window but have the bone comming out of the window form inside the case. Based on the position, you could make it look like its "growing" from the cpu or something.

Alright, I had a nearly new can of expanding foam, but it was clogged. I gently used a drill to punch a small hole, but it went all the way in!! The pressure BLEW and sprayed everywhere!

I added the foam to the base of the spine to make it appear as though the spine is barely poking through. This effect also covers up the support pins and rivets.

Here's what it looks like when you add black and red to the foam. LET THE FOAM CURE BEFORE PAINTING. Otherwise it'll dissolve!

There's a lot to be done. The paint is a first coat. When done it will look like "cooling lava", some parts will be black, some will be red. Please don't judge too harshly as I've just begun.

As for the boards, looks like a bunch of Socket 3 or 4s, with a 939, an early 370 (i810 era; might actually be Socket 7) and some old power supplies. Wonder how far off I am...

Most are ancient. Apple II clone, socket 370's, socket 7's, boards from TRS-80's, Commodore Coco's, even Kaypro's and Durons, and the first 8088 board.

Anyway...

The second from the top. The top bay will be partially covered by the skull's lower jaw. As of right now there will be no system going in this case. It's just gonna be a case mod, not a system build. BTW, I've already been offered $100 when the case is complete.

I was actually bidding on a set of arm bones for this mod that were real!! There was an estate sale for a real human skeleton from a doctor's office and I was outbid. Can you imagine how much cooler this project would be if I actually had won real arm bones to mount on a computer case?!?!

The obvious thing to do would be to light up the eye sockets. But how about having something in the mouth. Perhaps destroy an old piece of hardware (chunk of keyboard, part of a fan etc) so it looks like the skull took a chunk out of another case :twisted:

I also darkened the hand a bit. The razor blade is the only thing I could find in a pinch to keep the thumb out of the foam.

Very cool! ...In a surreal, creepy, and all around demented way! I can't help but think one of those circular mouths filled with teeth would make one heck of a great fan grate if you're planning on another large fan. ...At least I know I wouldn't be putting my finger near it! :D I don't know how interested you are in playing with servos, but making it open on start up and close on shut down would be rather neat to! :D

About gems, smoke and other stuff - it is soo "Halloweeny" for me. Ehhh. It is my opinion but case idea tend to be creepy/devilish as hell. Isn't it ?

Colour red is best ever as I can say from pics.

About doin' smth with skull - I'll throw in my 3 pennies.

Foam is here as a flesh/body of daemon/creature what have "owend" PC, as I understand.

How much light you will have, when you light it up with that LEDs? How much transparency foam have?
Maybe fill eye-sockets with a bit of foam to cover LEDs?

Another option - I would rather try to fill eye-sockets with (colorized with in someway) transparent glue. Then I would use LED to ligth it up.

About bones - they looked better without paint :/ Like "freshy" ripped of flesh and skinn - more creppy. Dudes - Did you ever see wound that makes you think "So, that how looks my bone"?
Black paint and red one is good - but for now oryginal colour of bones( I mean white) is too bright IMO. Repaint 'em maybe. They need to be more Fd up, more rough - more old, kinda yellowish like one 3rd pic in Your last pic-upate(strange light :/).

Foam work is EPIC man.
Front is SICK - I almost throw-up!


And front fan - how about paintin' it like it was just wiped out of blood?

It's been a bit since I posted anything because I've been racking my brain on what to do next. So after reading Lots of PM's and emails, I'm taking everyone's advice. There's going to be a lot more additions to the case. EL Wire, Red Flood Lights, and I will be adding a subfloor to the underside of the case to house the FOG MACHINE!

Have you considered painting the base gray with high and low tone accents to look like stone? It looks great but with all of that red it sort of looks like it could use a contrast to break up the color. I would at least consider painting the base to look like stone and perhaps have some areas where the blood is dripping down the sides. Pretty damn freaky and cool either way though, lovin it!

You might get a nice realistic depth to it if you give it a flat-black base coat, use some spray adhesive and sprinkle some of that painting sand around on in varying distributions, then hit it with a dark gray and mid to light gray top coats while sparing the deep gaps to give it that 3D shadowy effect. Might be worth a try, dunno.

yeah, that is an option too but I don't think it looks very good on a mod. It is fairly realistic looking but I think it might look a bit tacky on the case. You may want to try it on a section or spray some foam on something else and see what it looks like. Also, if you are going to shoot for the rock look, it would probably look better if you used that foam to make some more stones on the base, like spray some splotches around to make so bigger lumps. The flec-stone would be easier, but I think the self-made combination would allow you more versatility and would be cooler.

I would have to agree with jd though, it needs a little bit more contrast. The having a stone base with blood dripping down over it is a good idea imo.

Ahaha! I hadn't noticed that D/Hell logo on the front before, very clever. I think it has come out pretty damned nicely myself, the hand over the intake is an especially nice touch. Great shade of red, have you put any more thought into painting the base stone-colored? (sorry if I missed the answer in previous posts).

EDIT: For God's sake, it was in the very post I was replying to. I think if you use the right technique and keep the stone shade fairly dark it will look pretty good. This is mainly why I don't think Flec-stone is a good idea because it's typically light shaded. Maybe it would work as a base coat for texture and you could paint a translucent layer of black or really dark gray over it?
