We came home tonight to a bit of a draft...
It seems one of our sliding glass doors was missing.
...and so were our TVs, cameras, computers, fireproof safe (of course unlocked because we keep it in the house), and my friggin grill!
Anyway I am on an old P2 400 or so I had left in the garage for awhile but I will be in the market for any of your old stuff in a week or so.

Aww man, sucks. If I weren't in the process of acquiring stuff I'd ship ya some stuff for free, unfortunately I'm just starting college and driving, you can probably do the math. Did you have anything insured? I'd talk with the insurance company about all of it... I'd also check nearby pawn shops and all the other good stuff...

I feel for ya man.
My garage was broken into a couple of days ago, for the second time in a couple of months.
Luckily I think they were disturbed, because nothing seems to be missing. I've beefed up my locking system now.

I would just check your local craigs list, classifieds, and ebay for any of the items that were unique. Then try to contact them asking for pictures or to see it in person. If you can confirm that the object is identical to yours (pictures or what not) then notify the police.

Well, the positive side is that you now get to build/buy all new stuff!
Always an upside. :D

Thanks everyone. Yes, I agree... they suck.
* Good news : "Most" of our stuff was at least partly covered by homeowner's insurance.
* Bad news : "Lots" of stuff was 'too old', or 'secondhand', or 'gifts from friends', etc which doesn't get any value except miscellaneous household items so we are going to lose a lot.
* Good news : I have an awesome group of friends who have brought over a TV, a dvd player for the kids, etc, etc, and this computer is so old that I doubt I could get 20 bucks for it in a pawnshop so wifey says I can keep it.
* Bad News : Our rebuilding effort is gonna be costly and time consuming so I won't be buying anyone's stuff or modding for the forseeable future.
I won't be modding but I am stil a modder at heart, I will stop in from time to time to say hey, but for now, see ya! :(

Hey Y'all;
Thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes.
T, you sent me a PM and I tried to reply but your box is full.
Turns out we were the 4th house hit in as many months and some of the other folks have had identity problems. Our safe was taken and it had our passports, BCs, and a lot of financial stuff.
If anyone has had problems with identity theft, please PM me with any helpful suggestions, we want to try and nip this part of it in bud.

Fixed the full inbox problem. Got to keep up with that better...
I would cancel everything, check out one of the online credit agencies and see if they can put a hold on any new accounts being opened. Basically they will deny any credit checks which will fail most credit apps. Contact the Passport agency to tell them your passports were stolen, they will be put on a list that will alert the agent when it gets used. Also contact the Social Security agency and tell them your info got stolen and see if they can run a quick report to see if anyone else is using your number.
I have my safe's hidden AND bolted to the foundation with 10" masonry bolts. I am quite anal about making sure they are locked, and amazingly enough after not opening the small safe for a couple of years I remembered the combo. (my brain works like that...anyone still remember their first phone number? 40+ years later, I still do.)

Going through the identity theft stuff.
Good news - 1 of my cameras turned up at a pawn shop.
bad news - Now it's evidence so prolly gonna be at least 60 days before I get it back

I don't know about everywhere else but here in Florida you have to have a Driver's License, or State I.D. to pawn and anything sold to a pawn shop is held for 5 days before being released to the public so it's serial number can be run through a stolen database of stuff.
The only problem is that the guy who sold it to the pawn shop says he bought it for 10 just so he could sell it for 20.

Well he should be charged for purchasing and selling stolen property which they may drop if he ID's the perp. (unless of course they find his prints in your house...)

That is one of the major mistakes soo many people make. I would get someone to dust around.

The good news is... I got my camera back.
The bad news is... we got part of our insurance payment.
I forgot to buy modding supplies.
