I recently decided to install Vista x64 on my computer, and so far everything runs great, except I'm having a problem running games that I used to run on XP fine. This problem only occurs in full screen, and I have no frikin clue what the hell is wrong. For some reason my video card doesn't properly render anything in full screen it appears, which leaves everything looking completely screwed looking.

Here are examples of what I mean:

My computer specifications are:

AMD Athelon 3700+
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT
3 GB RAM

I currently have dual screen going if that matters.

I removed the IMg tags. Either post thumb nails or resize the links. 2400x1800 pixels is far too big for the forum and our dial up users.

Ok, I'll resize them, sorry about that

what video drivers are you using, if you have a nice video card from ati or nvidia try downloading their latest x64 drivers. if you havent installed them your just using vista's default

Yeah, I'd go with Exley on the drivers, and if it's not that it's either your card or a compatibility problem.

It looks like your graphics card is artifacting, check your drivers and temps.

Yeah, you might wanna check and see if you are running DX10. If you are, then it is trying to emulate DX9, which might be screwing around with your video output.

He's running Dx10 and Dx9.0c

Ok, I tried reinstalling the NVIDIA Graphics drivers, and so far it seems to be working properly. I'll report back if I experience the artifacts problem again. Thanks all!

If you do, also check the temps you're getting on your graphics card, it may have something to do with it.

Also, have you overclocked your graphics card at all?

No, I haven't over clocked my card at all. I don't really know of any programs either that would tell the temperature of the card. Can anyone suggest one? That's a good point, Vista may be running it at full speed all the time to make all those crazy visual effects. I guess that may explain why everything runs normally for a while after freshly restarting...

I haven't been able to test it thoroughly because I was busy today, so I'll check tomorrow. By the way, what would "normal" temperatures be for a desktop graphics card? All that I know is it is generally more than a CPU...

Around 75 load is fine, high, but fine.

And the monitoring program:

Well I tested it, and it is still screwed up. I'm getting temperature readings of 50 degrees celcius from the video card when all the colours and stuff get screwed up. I think I should probably email Nvidia on this one.

I think so too, I cannot think of any other solutions or test. Sorry.

I emailed BFG (the company that made the card), and they sort of disregarded everything I said and told me to send them shipping details so that an RMA can be arranged :(. If I have to send it back, I hope it doesn't take a long time because I don't have any other video cards to replace it.

Geeze, I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the card... but I might as well send it in. Who knows? Maybe I'll get a free upgrade like I did with my maxtor harddrive which decided it didn't have to work anymore :p.

Well, get a REALLY cheap graphics card in the mean time (if you just want to use the computer). I think an RMA is the best solution for your problem.
