I came across this interesting (albeit short) news story on next generation CPU cooling. Knowing what nerds we all are, I had to share.

I'm not a nerd. I'm a geek. :D

Isn't it something like 10kV?
Would you want that much electricity next to your CPU?

Although it is cool. *budump-tish.* :p

To me, geeks and nerds are one and the same. :D

Very interesting.

If a bit on the science channel side.

Here (http://inventgeek.com/Projects/IonCooler2/Overview.aspx) is a project I read about a while ago. He doesn't date his articles but I am pretty sure its around a year old. Its a semi step by step on how he setup some ion cooling. Should make a good read for those that are interested.

I did a quick search and it appears that Redundant (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/member.php?u=4325) posted the Version 1 attempt by him HERE (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4266) back in September of 06. I only mention this because the article seems to make it sound like its some new revolutionary concept that has never been done, which is not necessarily the case.

All in all I do think there is a lot to be said for the technology, and I hope they make some significant progress.

Thanks for the read, its definitely something of interest.
