I want to make a USB hub internally into my Lian-Li case..
IE: cut the holes for the usb plugs into a piece of alum so
that it looks as if it were built that way..
I will have at least 3-4 devices ( LCD's, bay device's ) that i would
like to connect internally in the case. Most of these have or will have
the standard USB connector's that you connect to the outside MB USB..
I want to have them internal and still have ALL my internal and external
USB available ( ok except for the one i need to connect the hub )
Anyone done that? Have idea's for it and where to get
the parts?
Thanx everyone !

Do you have a spare PCI slot?
You could get a USB pci card, with an internal connector
Like so
PCI USB card (http://www.ebuyer.com:80/UK/product/42657)
That's a UK site, as I'm a tea drinking englishman, but I'm sure you could find such a thing on a US electronics site. The price translates to about $9 I believe.
It only has one connector though, so you'd have to connect a hub to it to get multiple devices.

Actually, i want it totally within the case.. I could just get a hub and
mount it inside the case, but i was thinking of a more DYI type deal..

Take a generic USB hub.
Take the input cable and cut it, solder the wires to a connector that connects to an internal USB header.
Dress up the internal hub to suit your theme.

Better IMO to get a powered one and run it off the internal 5V supply.

its a bit more work but that sounds better. that way you can charge stuff via usb. +rep for the idea

I agree with both of those. I was simply referring to splicing the usb lines to be able to make an external usb hub work off an internal usb header.

Ok
How about something like this (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=19998&doy=21m8&C=SO&U=strat15)?

just remove the back plate. I'm pretty sure you could get one without the back plate actually.
Again, sorry for the UK link, seem to have difficulty searching for item for sale in the states, but i'll continue looking.
