Well I have had a 10 gallon tank for a few months and a 3 inch long male betta calling it his domain. So, the other day i got the bright idea of introducing some other fish into the tank. I did my research and headed to the pet store with the intention of buying a bumblebee catfish. All of a sudden I saw her. A tiny 1 inch long female betta and I had to take her home and get her out of that small cup. As soon as I stuck the bag into the tank my male betta (named Goobe) went nuts. Not in a good way. I thought He may just need some time but he wanted to kill her. I looked into it and found out, males do not like having females around unless they are mating (kind of like people). So needless to say, I headed to walmart and bought a cheap 2.5 gallon tank all for herself. $55 later, I now have another fish and another tank. I could have taken her back but i was already attached.
A pick of her.

Bettas are not compatible with any fish lol. Unless its a big tank sometimes. Bettas have multiple personalities and are not the same. I had a betta in a 2.5 gallon but it died recently so all i have is my 10 gallon with some tetras. I'm planning on setting up a nano soon :) If you want you can join aquaria.info or plantedtank.net where i am registered at. Bettas also like silk plants better than plastic ones. What do you feed it daily?

I need to get some silk plants and almost did until I bought her. I want to do a slow transition over because he loves to sleep in the plants. But, thats another $30 I dont have just yet. Ill have to wait until friday. As for food, I feed him betta pellets, freezed dried brine, and blood worms.

the black ghost knife is bigger now, he is probably about 7" or so. i've had the sharks the longest at 2 or 3 years now i think. and the ghost knife maybe a year.

I miss my fish, have a comet and a shubunkin (check the spelling! :)) but they are back home with my parents cause I don't have room for them here. Hopefully once I move into my next place I can enjoy their company again. Would love to have real plants in the tank but never had the money or time spare to sort it out.

Obsessed? Maybe..
I went out and bought my female betta a 10 gallon tank to have to herself (and a few little friends in the future). So now I have a 10 gallon for my male and a 10 gallon for my female. i just didnt like the idea of her spending the rest of her short life in a 2.5 gallon tank.

EDIT- she isnt in it yet, I need to let it run a while before that happens. Then I will transfer her and the rest of her plants over to this one.

I like REAL pets. fish dont cut it for me, they're lets say, kinda stupid.
Real moral of the story, if life brings you lemons you make lemonade.
if you have two fish that dont like each other.. SUSHII!

Heh heh... that's why I would have some sort of mammalian pet and some fish. Fish are fun to watch and look at while the other pet would be a good companion.

Fish are extremely relaxing for me. They are fun to watch and bettas are quite smart. They come over to great me and will follow me from one side of the tank to the other. They know when it time to eat because I wave the food around. they swim up to the top and wait for me to drop some food in. I swear they can count because, once I give them the 4 pellets (6 for the male) they swim off and do there own thing. maybe its just routine because i do that twice a day

I have a betta fish! His name is Teal'c. My friend gave him to me for my birthday 2 years ago. Unfortunately I did not think it was advisable for him to go on the 6 hour drive to my school so he is under my fathers watchful care while I am at school.
Pictures are a little old:

That is a cool looking fish and a nice tank you've got. I should get something simple to keep in my room, this place is kind of bland. I don't even look anywhere but the monitor. :F

xRyokenX: Thanks for the compliment. It is the second tank, well the first was more of a cool fish bowl that my friend broke while watching him for me as I was on vacation (fortunately Teal'c was not in the bowl when it happened my friend was cleaning it). The new tank is 2.5 gallons if I remember right. Teal'c likes to hide behind the grey vent in the back corner.

You're welcome dude. For about a week and a half (one day over the Walmart "warranty") I had a Betta named Antonov, he was a sweet looking red one with some cool fins, I got the tank and all set up right and everything was working good, but he ended up dying on me. Last time I buy any animals from Walmart. At least he died somewhere pleasant. :F
But yeah, I'll have to see how much another one would be from a real store, not a dump... and I'll get a better fish tank too... we'll see. I'll post pics too if I get a camera that I'm allowed to use, stupid paranoid parents.
EDIT: Goobe is a cool looking fish too, clever name also. Bettas are cool fish.

Im addicted to bettas. They actually have a personality, unlike my Chinese Algae Eater. That thing is the most boring fish I have ever seen. It just sits on the bottom or the sides and sucks on rocks.
