FROM LIFEHACKER.COM (http://lifehacker.com/): You've just reinstalled Windows from scratch—again—but this time you want to preserve your sparkling clean setup for instant restoration down the road. Instead of dropping cash on Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image, burn yourself a free, bootable Linux-based System Rescue CD. more » (http://lifehacker.com/software/geek-to-live/partition-and-image-your-hard-drive-with-the-system-rescue-cd-292972.php)

This, might, be... very, very useful.
I wonder if it's the same as the nLite program (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8450)?

I have System Rescue CD and it is possibly the most helpful CD I have. It has come to the rescue in various system restoration problems. If you don't have it, you need it. But, then you also need to learn some basic Linux skills, but if you have a free afternoon...

Edit: Also, no, it isn't like nLite. nLite is for making slipstreamed install disks that have everything on them that you need, and then installs by itself. This is for system recovery tasks.

If you need Linux but don't want to install it, use Knoppix. It works as a System Rescue CD as well!

It works as a system rescue CD as well, but System Rescue CD has a few nice tools that Knoppix doesn't. And it's a smaller download .
