looks like rambus memory to me, but the best bet would be to check the model of your motherboard against the manufacturers website and they should have a compatibility chart that you could then use to find upgrades...

That is probably the biggest problem with Rambus memory. Too damn expensive. Your best bet would be ebay if you can find the right model.

I think a new computer would be a better idea...

Rambus ram is frighteningly expensive.. I paid $350 for 512mb for a system last spring. Your best bet is to replace the mobo (and in that case, do the cpu too) so you can use DDR2 ram. :)

Here's 256mb (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=2604170&sku=C10-5016)

Here's 512 (http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.php?PageTag=&page=file&memx_menu=EmbedProductDetail.php&DisplayProductID=734&SID=)

The reason for the high price? Rambus ram was supposed to be the next big thing when the p4s were released, but DDR ram ended up being cheaper and more effective with the p4 architecture, so Rambus fell out of favor with manufacturers. Since they all but stopped supporting it, production continued to drop to where it is now (if it even is still being produced.. but I'm not sure that it is), so the demand has stayed the same, but the supply is really dwindling.
