Well, It's been a while since I've posted here. Anyway I've got an idea for a small mod to add onto my current case. Here are the, erm... Dodge Prints. :P

How would I make the LED's flash? ANd I will post pictures after about what I mean by soldering it onto my current LED's power.

Edit: There will only be 1 row of LEDs.

Edit 2: It will be built into one of those covers that cover up where DVD-Rom's are supposed to be.

Well, for 12v (yellow wire) a resistor of 470 to 1k ohms should do. What do you mean with flashing? What should control it? The hdd activity? A button?

what you need is an led strobo:

NOTE: this plan is for 4 leds only, you need this to use more leds (2 ultra bright or 3 normal per circuit)

And luckily, I done electronics tech. :)

Ok, since I had a proper look at all that diagram stuff and what not. I have realized that I don't understand some of it. So I have gone into Photoshop and drawn up a small diagram of my own.

Feedback would be appreciated.

He could train a monkey to do it.

Alternatively buy some sort of kit like this which would flash them according to the noise level in the PC case or room. find a way to fix three leds up to each output and stagger them to create a weird flashing pattern:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/qe6426071rn.jpg (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=26071&doy=29m8)

Or this which with a little "moddification" could just flash them and happens to run 16 LED's:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/vx74r.jpg (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ITAG=FAQ&ModuleNo=20998&doy=29m8#faq)

Or this one which looks to have great potential. Programmable variable speed variable pattern strobe kit:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/300/vx96e.jpg (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=22559&doy=29m8)

All the kits are around £5 - 7 each $10 - 15 inclucing all parts and instructions. Monkeys are expensive, dangerous, eat too much and, given the chance, will crap on the carpet.

He he he, I know that. I could probably use a 555 Timer or something.

Also, why the hell are there 3 pins on the bottom of a toggle switch? Is one ground or something?

You have 3 pins because inside the switch there is a small piece of metal that either connects to the top pin or the bottom pin.. so, it toggles between 2 positions.. but if you need only to brake a circuit, you will use the middle and one other pin. If you wish to change from, let's say, 12v in the middle to 5V and ground on the outer pins, you get a fan on or fan at 7V (12-5) :) That's why you have 3 pins :)..hopefully I answered the right question... :|

that circuit that froop posted does use a 555 timer and will do the same as those kits that CB posted although those mostly seem to be transistor based, which is also easily done. Circuits like that arent really that hard to do if you can solder, you just have to take your time and follow every line exactly

I might go down to Dick Smiths and take a look.
