Damn...

The results of the following listing(s) have been cancelled due to bidding activity that took place without the account owner's authorization:

200147149928 Sony PlayStation Portable - Game console - black

Well, someone with a stolen account tried buying, and eBay ended it.

That sucks, can you put it back up?

Well there was a buyer, from North Carolina. Sold for $100. Shipping addresses, names and e-mails dont match. Shipping address is for Nigeria in Africa, and the amount wired was $150, and an e-mail was sent telling me to ship it immediately. I don't like the look of this.

I'd report it, sounds like a Nigerian identity theft thing. Like that whole Nigerian email scamming deal? I dunno... I guess webcomics aren't too good at reporting news, heh heh, no matter the comic that it is. But yeah, report it.

This happend to my friend. He sold a diamond ring on ebay to someone, and they wanted to send a money order (Fake) and have him ship it immediatly to "Their daughter in Nigeria". It is a scam and you should report them immediatly. He tried to get them to pay thru Paypal, and they ignored it and still wanted to send a check.

I've get those scams every time I put something up on ebay... one of them said they'd pay via paypal but I still didn't trust that.

Hello Seller, Will you consider selling this item to me, for the sum of US $900.00 plus shipping cost Via USPS Global Mail Express 3-5days for delivery abroad. Payment would be effected upon your response as i would want you to send me a PayPal Payment Request to my email address crilnuntch@yahoo.com or probably reply with your PayPal account email address if you are interested in selling this to me.

I am Dr.FRANK SMITH regarding your advert on ebay, which i happened to be very much interested in and i would like to purchase the item for $2,600 US DOLLARS with an additional $100 US DOLLARS as shipping fee.I want you to get back to me today if the offer is fine with you.I want the item to be shipped through (USPS),because the item will be shipped to my store abroad.I will prefer the safest means of Money Order for the payment and this will be processed through TRAVELEX MONEY ORDER

...There are a few more, one even tried scamming Omega's mom! They sent her an email saying:

Hi,

I'm the owner of this item (the one you've recently bided on) " DELL INSPIRON 5100 LIGHTNING FAST LAPTOP ( 250154915946 )".
I am in a bussines trip for 3 weeks and i want to close the auction earlier because i don't have time for it so please let me know your best price.
I`ll provide you 5 days money back guarantee, no questions asked. That means within 5 working days you decide if you don't want to keep the item. The deal will go strictly according to ebay's rules and policy regarding to this buy it now offer- to start the official transaction, i need to know:
Your best price:
First name:
Last name:
Shipping address:
City/State:
Country:
Zip:

As soon as i have them i'll start the official procedure, and ebay will notify you about this. You'll also receive important guidelines + instructions from them (please go through them exactly).
I'll handle and pay for the shipping, so this will be free of charge for you.
Waiting for your answer ASAP!

Thank you

It actually gets better....

Now, if "The following listing(s) have been restored and activated because the bids that were placed on them were submitted with the account owner's authorization.", then why is the frickin' auction still down?

What in hell?!?! One more reason why I don't like online auction sites, screw that. That stuff just screams for misconduct.

Send them a "lurd". You could also respond with email of your own saying the item was shipped...

BTW: a lurd is a package with less than anticipated consequences. A book I own "Big Brother Game" published by Playboy Press, shows in great detail how to construct a package that upon opening will spill the substance of your choice out onto the opener. They show a plastic bag full of dog crap, that is ripped apart when the box is opened... Just don't send it usps and make sure it is NOT toxic or flammable...(insert other legal rambling here)

If the listing was restored, the why is it still down? This is a scam.

I am reporting this because I feel that the account was either fake or this was an account that is a victim of phising. Please respond back with a proper solution, until then the package I am selling will not be shipped. And for reference, I have taken 5 screenshots of the e-mails:

... Nope, nothing up with it. You switched a "c" and an "o" making it acoc... so it was a bad word.

Sucks that they're trying to scam you though.

I have sold several things on ebay and the very first item I sold I was emailed by someone who wanted it now without going through ebay. Don't remember all the details (long ago), but I just forwarded it to ebay and ended up selling the item for more than the guy was offering... I found out later that ebay sometimes do fishing emails to see if you will violate their policy. I am going to sell more stuff on ebay soon, but will be very careful...

Gotta love grammer from a hacker

Grammar. Also I wouldn't make a generalization that "hackers" have bad grammar or spelling, or that they are all evil people who are trying to steal identities and what not.

Scammers on the other hand would fit the description.

Can you name a perfectly legal thing that would fall under the label of "Hacker"? lol

Otherwise, I agree on the scammers part. Thats what they are, not hackerz. Btw, elite speak supposedly originated from "hackers" as a way to speak to eachother without others knowing what they were saying. Kind of like morse code. So technically, if you accept that as truth, then they actually do have bad grammar. lol

Whoops, that went a bit off topic. eh, boredom is boring.

Ms. Pauline doesn't sound like a very Nigerian sounding name if you ask me.

Yes, companies will hire "good hackers" to test out their security. Also that theory about leetspeak makes no sense, especially because even a monkey could decipher it. It was most likely invented by some kid who thought it would be cool to talk in numbers that looked like letters, and words that were often misspelled such as The=Teh.

@mitt, you can steal accounts without hacking... Plus the definition of "hacking" has changed dramatically, people now use it for when keyloggers, trojans, and bruting is involved. Which is childs play to people who can actually hack.

I only sell items on ebay within Australia and I have never had this problem. Its pretty easy though you only ship if they have paid you through paypal and just ignore anything else.
