Is it cheaper to buy my own software and print my own or have them made?

got good quality paper and a good quality printer? i would think its cheaper that way. how many cards you need i think will be the decider on which way to go. i would check prices and go from there.

IMO you'll never achieve the same printing quality at home as the pro's can provide. Things like reflective silver/gold writing on a black background for example. But for a simple design, a decent printer with decent paper can produce good results.
It all depends on wether you need to impress people with them or not.
As for buying the software, I wouldn't bother. Just make the card with your favourite graphics program (but not mspaint..), save it as an image (not JPG, use BMP or PNG) then print a sheet of them from a word processor,

i dont think id bother doing it myself unless i had a laser printer, remember that inkjet ink runs if the card gets wet!

I spent $30 and got 200 cards made for my business, and they look GREAT. Local print shops will always be willing to make a deal if you ask. :D

oh my god.
I signed up for the site awhile back hoping for freebies, instead i get an email every day or so bitching about their "free" items.
Airbozo is right. I used vistaprint.com last year. I got 1000 glossy cards for $40.00.
Don't spend money on "specialized" software. You can download a free template and make the card up in photoshop or gimp, and upload the image (300 dpi or better) with your order.
