Alright this is going to be hard, but it must be done. I've heard this one song a million times on the radio and TV shows. Every single time its on and there's someone else with me, they don't know what the song is called. Allow me to attempt to describe it:
Its a rock song that starts with a basic piano tune that lasts about a minute. The singing comes in after the tune repeats 3 or 4 times and is just humming at first. It is a male singer with a slightly higher, lighter voice. This is a somewhat new song and is played very often on the radio. Im guessing it was a hit in the US at one point.
I know that was terrible, but I HAVE to know what that song is.
Thanks,
Indybird
is there any lyrics in it, get the lyrics and someone might know.

The only song that comes to mind is "The One" by Tantric off of Tantric 3. Go to Purevolume and search for tantric, should be pretty simple after that.

Could be "What I've Done" by Linkin Park... that starts with piano...

How about a little more detailed description. Is it a male or female singing (or none), is it a recent song, classic rock, heavy rock, how long is the piano intro, etc...

Actually, have a recording of it and see if you can post it somewhere, lol... so long as that's not illegal... hmm...
I might have to ask you guys as well. I have some bits of songs in my head, and I have no idea what they are. I don't know what the singer is like, what any lyrics are, but I do know parts of what they sound like. I should record my voice and then post them to see if you guys can figure it out. These songs have been in my head for the longest time.

The "I don't know what I'm listening to" thread. :D
I went ahead and did what I said. Don't laugh at it >_>
I have no idea of anything about these songs, I just know these small bits.
Here's one song bit (http://codeinsurrection.com/music/firstsong.mp3)
And here's the second song (http://codeinsurrection.com/music/secondsong.mp3)
Does anyone have any idea what either of these are?
HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA <--Sorry, couldn't resist.
I notice in the second recording your acctualy saying "DUN NO"

The song im thinking of is sung by a male singer with a slightly higher, lighter voice. This is a somewhat new song and is played very often on the radio. Im guessing it was a hit at one point. The piano part lasts about a minute (I think).
If that doesn't help, I'll try recording myself singing the piano part.

I don't know which radio station it was on. I don't personally listen to radio, I've heard it in stores, in my friend's cars and such...

wait, when you mean singing. do you mean like humming the melody, or like actually singing the lyrics to it. oo...try and put it up online or something, and put a link of it on the thread so we can hear it. i just hope that if i don't know the song, i won't get pissed and start pulling my hair trying to figure it out. haha

Well, if the radio plays the song more often than not, then you could always look for a top 50 chart or something. Then listen to each song that might be it, meaning, you can exclude country, rap, etc. Then once you think you might have found a plausible match, try finding a preview clip website. Maybe like amazon or something. I think they have preview clips for their cd's.
You could also spend the whole day listening to the radio. Tune in to the most likely station that would play that type of song. Then if you hear it, pay special attention to lyrics. Type them into google and voila.
Not much help, but maybe It'll spark an idea or something.
Good luck!
@ Daje: ROFLMAO! I haven't laughed so hard or felt so utterly uncomfortable in possibly my entire life. Wow... just wow.
on a scale of one to ten, where ten would be a situation where a homosexual dude is hitting on me and can't take the hint that I'm straight, what you just did to me is about a nine. lol
btw, I don't have anything against gay people, just with the exception of when they hit o me and cant take a hint.

Set "recording" to stereo mix.
EDIT: Oh wait, you're using vista. You can't do it with vista..... there may be another program though.

Here (http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a29/Indybird/?action=view¤t=120ab194.flv) it is. I got sound recorder working and recorded myself playing it on an web-keyboard. Its pretty bad but gets the tune across.
Please get it,

I've used this a few times a long time ago and it helped me if I remember correctly. Had to google it because I didn't bookmark it back then.

Thanks for the tapper. I just tried twice and listened to results, none of which were it. I think the tapping for this is too constant for that to recognise.

Clocks by Coldplay maybe?

That's my best guess, too. Sounds fairly close and I can't think of any other recent songs with a piano intro.

I didn't host it, and I found it using legal means, so I assume it's alright to post a link.
