View Full Version : Just to make sure everyone knows about my pictures
I always like to take my pictures in a resolution of 3008x2000. SOme may think that's too big, but that's just how I roll. But anyways, whenever I post them I make thumbnails of them and use the board code to make it so when you click the thimbnail the full image loads up. Whenever I do this, I always say to click the thumbnail for the full image, just incase someone doesn't realise it's a thumbnail and just thinks I post tiny ass pictures. So just so you all know, they're always going to be thumbnails, so click them.

I respect your artistic wishes but most of the world will only ever see the thumbnail versions of your pictures then. As a lot of people don't have fast connections or large bandwidths. As connections like these in countries around the world including Australia aren't as cheap as they are in the USA.

It may be a pain, but you could always double host them, have one in the insanely high resolution and have another one that's 1024x768 or something like that.
So are you suggesting rather than thumbnails, I just size down the entire image? Or that I make the thumbnails something like 1024x768? I could still always take them in a resolution of 1504x1000

size it down to the max the forums lets you then have it so if they want a bigger picture you just have to the click the picture.
Well dammit, I already made 300x199 thumbnails for all of them. I suppose I'll use a script in Photoshop to automatically resize them all. But still, it's a bitch having to turn each one into a link. A thumbnail mod on the forums would be great. The handbook says they can only be 800x600 though, so I can't resize them to 1024x681.

One word:

Image shack automatically adds the BB code, right?

It has a bunch of different codes for various stuff, give it a shot.
Well that's the only thing it offers that would make me consider using it. For now, I'll stick to privately hosting them though.

Well, you can have it resize, it has codes for various things such as thumbnails, etc... take a look, it can't take too much of your precious time. :p
Well Photoshop also has scripts that allow me to do things like batch resizing. Imageshack is beneath me!

Imageshack provides a thumbnail and full size image, as well as the different codes for pasting into forums, websites etc. It saves heaps of time and effort.
Well no matter what I end up doing, everyone should still know that they can click my images for a full sized version of them.

I resize all my stuff in photoshop or in Canon's EOS photo app. My pics come straight from the 30D as a 6.7mb raw file @ 3504x2336 pixels. I convert them to JPG after some unsharp mask and cropping and then resize to something close to 800x600 for forums.
