Hello there, i'm a n00b here and besides the fact that i've been impressed by everyones work... i would like to ask for some tips on modding a case.

I'm looking for a tool that can help me carv the side pannel of a case, for example, i draw the outline and then i simply cut the case as marked, so it's pretty much a cutter of some sort, but with metal (or whatever the hell a standard ATX case is made of)... but more powerfull.

It doesn't have to be like this, i mean any tool that anyone can specify is welcomed as long as i can find it in a store or something.

My first project is based on a theme to help the image of a forum i'm in (from Romania) si i guess that i'll get on a work-log as soon as i have all the material i need to properly do it.

So if anyone can help me.. i would appreciate it, thank's again.

I wold say get a Dremal and a 20 pack of reinforced cutting disks, they will last longer and its proboly the best deal. Also get a metal file of some sort, a fine one, you don't want it to rip up the case, just smooth it out.

Hmm, this is good, people seem to know what can be used.. but there is a slight problem.. (or two)

First.. i don't believe the Maximum PC's Guide To Case Modding is available in Romania for selling.. and second, my english, I believe, lacks the understanding of the word "Dremmel".. i mean i can understand it's a power tool of some sort... but i'd really appreciate a link to a photo or something, to help me out... And if i can find it in a hardware store or something.

Have you tried googling the word? I think if you do you will find what you need. You can even do that for countless other things. If you come across a word you don't understand. Please try Google.com (http://www.google.com) first.

OrHERE (Europe) (http://www.dremeleurope.com/start/index.htm)

Another possibility is a jigsaw or sabresaw, it is the same tool but is known by both names. This is an example of the tool I'm talking about ... http://bosch.cpotools.com/reconditioned/saws/jig_saws/1587avs-46.html . I would think that this tool would be easier to find. It is not as versatile as a rotary tool (Dremel) but it cuts flat objects well.
