If I install Windows XP 64 bit edition and 4GB of Ram will my 32 bit games play all right? What about other apps and games?

I've heard that they will, but I can't really confirm this.

I'd take a look at Microsoft's website if you don't mind digging through lots of crap to find out... I'm just busy at school, but not so busy that I can't post here. :p

I have a system at home running WinXP64 and it sucks. Some games will play some will not. I have gone through all the forums and even emailed M$ about the 32 bit compatibility mode, that is anything but compatible. I have an extra copy of XP home that I am going to load on the system forever wiping out XP64...

That's how well it worked for me.

Some dfo some don't

If you want to know whether the game will be able to use 4GB or RAM yes, the OS determines memory allocation not the apps, so games won't be limited.

It's not about using the RAM for me; it's just about bragging rights. I don't want to throw in a new mobo/proc [in R2D2], but I would like to make other upgrades. I definitely have more important things to buy than more parts, but I was just curious. Thanks.

I think most of the larger game developers have come out with 64 bit compatibility patches for 32 bit based games (or some jumble of those words)
I know Valve Steam recently came out with a 64 bit patch.

You play Red Alert 2 still? Wow, lol. If they still support online playing with that game, wanna play a match one day? I'm at a loss for people to play online or over the LAN with. CURSE YOU WORLD OF WARCRAFT!!! *Shakes Fist*

I don't online game. I like slowing wearing out an enemy over hours until I force him into bankruptcy.

That's what I used to do... now I try to build up quick and take him out by distracting him with a head on army and sneaking some stealth **** in the back of his base... but yeah, I'd sit there in my impregnable fort and slowly take over the map and just march in with some artillery and tanks and just kill him...

I also like building the maps with the Final Alert Map maker.

I used to make maps for the original Red Alert... I had this one that totally kicked ass, too bad it's long gone, I made it when I was like 6 or 7 or something... I'd like to make maps for something again... that and mods, make some modern game into a Red Alert mod, the original was kickass. I wonder if they have an editor for CnC3 that doesn't crash constantly... huh.

The 5 something inch floppies? I remember those. Just get an old PC and run DOS on it, that's what I plan to do.
