The Eve online trial downloads at 500 KB/s.

It just gives me the warm fuzzies knowing that from any other website, it would be 200 or less.

It downloaded at LEAST twice as fast as that for me.

And we're still holding steady at a healthy 375. I just love quick downloads. It's like feeding light bulbs into a woodchipper, so satisfying.

Sounds like fun. That or taking an SMG and just shooting random stuff, lol... refrigerator... toilets... cardboard boxes filled with those foam peanuts... NOT people by the way... lol.

But yeah, quick D/L speeds ftfw.

Yep, I get around 70kbps on average. You guys are lucky sobs. lol

I played Eve online for about an hour yesterday. It was... not that fun at all I thought. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't that great. The best part was designing my guy and whatnot. Then fighting the pirates was kind of fun. Wasn't interactive at all. Lock on to the dude, click the fire button, orbit him until he's dead. Would of been SO much more fun if I could of went into cockpit view, fly around after him and shoot him. Like in the Nintendo 64 game "Star Wars".

I tried a little bit of "mining" but couldn't figure it out. Maybe I was doing it wrong? But I sat around an asteroid for like 10 minutes trying to mine it and I didn't get anything from what I could tell.

How do you loot wreckages anyways? I killed three dudes, checked there cargo hold, tried to take it or something, but it wouldn't let me. Hmmm.

For a monthly payment? Not a chance in the world. I'd rather play the new WoW patch "liche king" or something like that. or even transfer over to Guild Wars or Neverwinter Nights. From what I can tell, those games have better gameplay and better graphics. Their more interactive too. Eve is too... autopilot-ish for me. Although I did see some pretty bad ass looking space ships. One of them reminded me of the cargo ships out of Cowboy Bebop. :p

The game is boring, I'm trying out FURY. To mine, target the rock, click on the little mining laser icon. To loot people, right click on the wreck, orbit at 500m, and right click when you get there, hit "open cargo" and drag the stuff into your cargo.

To get any money you have to make thousands of trips in a day and it's boring, the missions are repetitive, whoop dee ****ing doo, I'm trying FURY and we'll see how I like it. Hopefully it's like swashbuckling style combat instead of turn based or whatever.

I just love it when my download speed hits 10,000 kbps

oh yeah .. guys watch the capitalisation on yr download speeds

kbps lowercase kilobits per second

KB uppercase stands for KiloBytes

a Byte (pronounced Bite) is eight bits

so 500KB/s =4,000 kb/s

:)

Yeah, I didn't think it was that great. What's this FURY you talk about?

I'm kind of looking for something to hold me until WAR or age of conan comes out.

I was happy they had such a download speed, usually anything from a single site is capped at like 250 KB/s. My connection is from some small company that does it over radio antannaes, and it's decent in Dload and UPload

whos your isp CB?

Be Unlimited (http://www.bethere.co.uk/)

24MB max down 1.3MB max up ADSL2+ £24/month (I pay £20/month for life - Beta Tester :) )

They don't sell jeans, they don't sell coke, they don't fly planes - they don't even offer a calls package - they do do internet and they do it very well:

When you order they give a (low side) estimate of what speed you will actually get. Your free wireless router arrives the day before you go live, by courrier. They are a small Norwegian company with a well educated and trained and helpfull and efficient call centre in Bulgaria. They always do what they say they will do.

Oh and if a payment gets missed they don't cut you off or threaten - they send a polite email advising you and they ask if you would be kind enough to call at your leisure and sort it.

If it isn't obvious I like them and their ways a lot and thoroughly recommend them.

:)

ps late at night I can download a 700M divX movie in under 15 -20 mins and single music tracks often take under ten seconds even during the day.

have you run TCPOptimizer on your connection? - you might double that speed if not.

Apparently my connection isn't much, but hey, we cannot get cable where we live and DSL just sucks, so this is a TERRIFIC alternative to dial up.

I remember way back when we had that suckfest. It was just... yuck.

IT may not be 10 Mb/s, but after that around 5 it's hard to tell the difference.

I knew the difference between MB and mb, but I didn't notice the error in the original post. My connection is 10mbps for download and 1mbps for upload. It's the best thing available in my town. Even though the neighboring town has Cox, which is faster and cheaper, Charter has a contract with my town so that it's the only available cable service in the entire town. You can get satellite if you want though, from like 2 different companies, but it's much slower. Kind of reminds me of net neutrality.

I'm still on my 10mbps connection here at home, but I've contacted the cable company about it, and they say that before Christmas they will have 25mbps service here!!!!

Shaw Cable FTW!

They are always "lopsided" - yours is completely normal because you pull in much more data than you push out - the exceptions are when you pay for greater upload bandwidth because you want it - for running a webserver or whatever.

i get internet from Virgin Media, 20MB unlimited, and i can DL a movie late a night (Leagily of course) or even a large file in about 15-20 minutes

i can't get internet from the same company as you cb, my local excahange has just been upgraded and will only get a max speed of 2MB
