Huh? Like PC-100 RAM? Or PC-2100? Cause I don't think any modern DDR-type memory runs at 100Mhz .

pc 2100 lol. An ad in the paper would say 333mhrz but its not. Well anyone have any ideas about a good gig or ram for under 100 dollers.

2100 is 266mhz, 2700 is 333, 3200 is 400... Another decent option is Crucial, you pay a little extra, but it comes with a lifetime warranty - not the best if you plan to overclock though... Matched pairs are better if you do plan to overclock, definitely

Make sure you check your motherboard's compatability with the different speeds of RAM. If you get PC2700 or PC3200 and it doesn't work.. its because your mothterboard does not support that speed. Its the same with FSB compatibility with processors. Check the manufacturers site for these specs if you can't find your manual. I would trust Crucial or Corsair for the high quality RAM, but if you are going for budget based value RAM, check out Kingston's.

it supports a p4 socket 478 with a 400/533/800mhrz fsb. it also has 4 184pin ddr slots that can handle ram up to ddr3200. (im not that stuped :p )

I wasn't calling you stupid, just giving a reminder to check compatibility. Pretty much everyone that builds computers has compatibility problems at some point. Its a fact of life. I'm sorry if I maid you feel dumb.

Dont worry i know you wernt calling me stupid. (im kinda a random guy and just say things out of the blue.) I have only one more question. Does a heat spreader do anything usefull at ddr 3200 speeds or can i just get normal and not worry about it. I ask cuz i have an old pentum 2 i think might be 1 but it runs at 500mhrz and its got a realy small heatsink on it.

ps. i must be lucky no issis with compadeablity. :D

Hey here's you a link to the same ram I have. It is decent stuff but not that good of an overclocker.

GeIL Ultra 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR 3200 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144513)

I live and breath OCZ. I have 4gigs of ram for my music workstation and the heatsink helps only because the ram is so close to each other. you dont really need a heatsink as long as air can flow over the ram freely

Mine's PNY, I think. 2x512 PC3200...and it's been running well since June. And I don't know that you'll have problems buying memory that's too fast - mine clocked itself down to PC2700 speed to match the motherboard (yeah, shut up.)

Hey I bought some new DDR2 ram for my computer so I can let these GeIL ram modules go for say 85 bucks shipped. Just e-mail me if interested.
