If you guys have any sorts of crazy ideas but don't feel like doing them yourselves, let me hear them. I'm up for doing anything. How about some cool eyecandy? I've got a 6 foot acrylic tube lying around, I could use that for something. How about something with lights and lasers, or fans. Maybe something modded into my desk. Or some fancy gadget. I want to build something aside from my case, while sitll working on it though. I just need something to occupy me while I think about it some more. I have PLENTY of free time to work on this kind of stuff, and still have about $300 left in my reserves to use on buying stuff. I need to start making some money soon. Once I do, I'll have plenty of free time, and plenty of money to blow. So uh, ideas?

I also noticed something while typing up this post.

My Idea for you which iv wanted to do for ages, but don't have any of the stuff to do it

Inbuilt Glass Keyboard:banana:

My idea was a Silent keyboard ( so I could play a night time and not annoy my parents ), See Through but have lights under it ( like the G15 but a button to change colors ). Also built into the desk so i could put homework over it and it wouldn't hit buttons. And Sand the letters on ( can't remember what thats called :O ) so you could feel them just as an added effect.
:up::up::up:

Thats my idea

You could build a desk that also has room to put all the components in and has wheels to go to LAN parties, but in a form where it folds up real good... that's my idea for something but I don't have the time or cash right now.

So, an entire keyboard completely hand made our of glass? Interesting. I believe the word you're looking for is "etch". And what do you mean by built in?

And as for the desk idea, I think I'll leave that to Crazy_Buddhist.

Heh heh... I mean a desk where it folds up into a more mobline shape and has a spot for the monitor and all for transport, simple idea, hard to express, blah.

Yeah Etch thats the word :D. I mean build in like so it just feels like the top of your desk so like its the same height as the top of your desk, basically so it doesn't stick up. Umm Level with the desk i think. lol

Perhaps with a removeable top to it so it can be used as a regular flat surface as well. Or perhaps have a flat surface connected to it, but the whole keyboard can pop out and the flat part moves off of it when doing so. And then it can be easily folded back down into the desk.

Mount a laser beam to a shark.. </Dr. Evil>

Sorry man. It's 4:00, the next 3 hours can't go quickly enough. Work is a little boring tonight.

The following are all thumbnails, so you can click them for a full sized version.

How about a fox with a laser in his ass?

He's aiming towards you!

It's managing to light up the side of my case. Whenever I take the side off, I never get around to putting it back on.

My case would look more lit up if it had the side to refract some light. I never use those LEDs on the case. They're not actually bright and blue as they appear in the picture. They only appear blue to the camera, but purple to a human eye. When I first got the case, they were basically blue, and a lot brighter than they are now. Now they're purple and seem to dim even more. They only look bright because of the exposure and all of that.

And if the fox isn't your style, here's a penguin with a fricken laser beam on it's head.

Anyone know why the endpoint of a laser beam might seem diffused? Here's my thought. A laser is a uniform stream of particles, but the diode isn't perfect, so a few protons wander off from the main point. What do you guys think?

OMG I was just thinking about doing that to my old beat-up desk

If you want to refract the light, frost the plexi.

I need some more ideas guys. I really want to build some stuff, but have no ideas, yet too much time. I have a shed to work in, a 20' x 5' sheet of aluminum, a gallon of bondo, assorted tools, every screwdriver there is, money, access to places where I can get materials, a Dremel with all of the needed attachments, including some like a jigaw, a 6' acrylic tube, everything I would ever need. I just need something to use it for. So, anymore ideas?

Two ideas:

Build a space shuttle PC case, or any NASA themed case.
Build a model of a locomotive cab as a PC case.

I intend to build that locomotive cab, but I just don't have time to start on it.

Well, I have a design that I created, I call it "Frame'd". Its been sitting on an external hard drive for a few months now. I like to occasionally look at it, just because I think its cool looking. Its still a rough draft, I haven't bothered to rethink designs and methods of construction and all that yet, just because I probably won't ever build it. But I like it, its simple, kind of different looking, and it would probably be pretty easy to build as there aren't any curves or odd shapes. The reason why its all squares and rectangles and straight lines is because it would of been my first mod if I went through with it, so I didn't want to make it too complicated to build. So I designed it around the abilities that I'm capable of. ...including my sketchup abilities. lol So don't laugh, I'm still pretty noobish in 3D modeling. ><

Anyways, you can use it, chop it up, or just look at it to maybe get some ideas flowing. Like I said, its not a very good chance that I will ever build it or make a final draft.

Download Sketchup File Here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?e9xhdmmdixg)

What do you guys think? Pretty cool or pretty lame? lol I thought it was pretty cool looking at least.

how about a pimp computer complete with lots of chrome and some spinners for your fans, underglow, tuck and roll front cover, fuzzy dice, a chromed out radiator grill, benz emblem, a diamond cdrom bezel, and hydrolics.

Recently I was just thinking about the glass keyboard that was suggested. It's actually a very intersting idea, and certainly different. Since I don't really have any way of forming the glass, I would basically have to just cut and adhere. I have cut-off discs for my Dremel for specifically cutting glass. But, I could also try to make sort of like a mold, a form of a key, and then heat a square of glass up with a torch and attempt to form it into the shape of a key.

But I could also use acrylic in place of glass. Not only that, but I could still form acrylic with a torch, the same way as mentioned above, but even easier. I think I'll really look into that idea.

But, acrylic can burn if you heat it up too long, and glass doesn't

But if you do it right, you can smooth out and bend acrylic easily, with no negative effects. I wouldn't be applying a high powered direct flame to it.

i gotta go with DaJe on this one. the right amount of heat plus acrylic will produce a nice product and isnt as complicated as working glass. plus its also alot safer! never heard of anyone getting a cut from acrylic :D

wow you can cut yourself with acrylic? never heard of that so far.
why not make a freezer inside your case. so you can freeze up your beer mugs. People can put a refrigerator in a computer but a freezer. hmmm, how would that be possible? lol.

DaJe, glade you like the idea. Plexiglass would be good but i just wrote glass, coz it sounded cooler. Hope you make it since im way to lazy/poor to do it :D.
