Here in Carlisle, PA there is an annual Corvettes at Carlisle show every last week of August. This time around, they were hit out of nowhere by a storm. Take a look at the damage...

The amazing part about that picture is not the fact that the fender and hood were torn clean off, but that you can see the springs to the valves in the motor; it busted the valve cover right open.

Was it a short time of strong winds and rain or was there a mini-tornado or something? Amazing only 5 people got hurt with all that metal flying around!

lol Well, you don't drive around in a Vette without having some good insurance. So I imagine the insurance should cover it, otherwise, that guy probably has a second one waiting for him at home.

As for how that could of possibly happen? You got me! I mean dang, it looks like it was hit by a slow moving train! What did it do? Get hit by a beach ball sized piece of hail? lol

the real amazing part is that the picture was taken BEFORE the storm, notice the ground all dry, all the tents and what not are perfectly up and their isnt any bit of rain drops to be spotted.

oh and due note the little blue writing on the car... it was wrecked way before the event and brought to the show to try and sell it to someone who was going to part it out...

was before the storm.

I dont see any major damage to any of the cars caused by the storm, nothing that buffing and possibly a small touch up of paint cant fix.

PS Metal>fiberglass

PS Metal>fiberglass

If that was a reference to my post I was refering to all the metal poles in the tents and covers not the panels on the car. :)

no. it was in reference to the cars, not the poles.

metal will dent, fiberglass will crack. flattening a dent will only cause minor structural damage where as cracked fiberglass will just get weaker and weaker as the crack spreads, even if its "fixed".

though i dont have any opposition against vette's you just have to be extremely careful.

A lot of damage looks bad because there's debris everywhere. Tents and little pop up displays don't have a chance to stand up to a good storm.

I know this is going to sound cold, but 5 injured and no deaths hardly counts as a disaster.

I wonder how the insurance companies are going to try to flake out on these vette owners though....that's a happy sum of body damage.

Little off topic, but it has to do with the area. My dad used to haul for Schaffer out of New Kingstown near Mechanicsburg. I've been to and through Carlisle a few hundred times in my life.
