hello there :) I got a new 22" wide screen LCD, but it only came with a VGA cable. I'm getting the screams max rez. (1680x1050) I'm just wondering, would getting a DVI cable improve things at all?

It will improve sharpness a bit, but I didn't notice a whole lot of difference on a 17" monitor. It was more noticeable on a 19", so a 22" would definitely see an improvement.

i have a 19 inch moniter and i noticed a diffrence.. but it depends on the source thats playing play something hd if your vidio card can suport it and you will see a big diffrence.. the clarity is better.. and speed less delay.. not alot but its noticable in games..

When I through a DVI cable on my 22" monitor i noticed a huge difference. Certain color patterns with the vga cable were kinda "noisy" I guess would be the way to describe it. I put the dvi cable on there and noticed a huge difference in sharpness. Definitely worth getting. This was when I worked at best buy before my surgery. I got the 50$ dvi cable for $5 hehe :devious: best 5 bucks ive spent for image quality.

Well they had the $2 one as well. But I got the longer dual link one, not the single link. Who knows, maybe I did. But $3 is a hell of a lot better than what they take from the consumer. ($5 for me, $50 for them).

I only say that because I don't work there anymore. Because of my illness and the surgery, I had to go on leave. But after 90days corporate wouldn't allow me any more time, so no more discount for me. But I left on "good terms" so any time I want my job back its pretty much a given but ehhhh.

So ya, If your looking for a dvi cable, go to newegg or something. There is absolutely no difference between the $5-10 newegg cable and best buys $50 cable, other than amount of money the company takes from you.

maybe its just me but if the monitor is vga only how is a DVI cable going to help him at all?
I'm hoping that the screen has an input for DVI, otherwise this whole thread is useless:P

If its only vga, that probably isn't a very good monitor to begin with. Most monitors will only supply you with a vga cable. You have to purchase the dvi separetly.

So I'm willing to bet that it has DVI, he just didn't get a cable with the monitor. I have yet to see a decent 22" widescreen monitor that didn't have dvi. But I know someone is bound to show me one now, not saying they don't exist, but I sure wouldn't even think about buying one.
