View Full Version : Fun for the KiDz0rZ
Check it out guys. I'm going to be doing some more painting in the house today. We got this paint for the kids play room. I think it's gonna be kinda fun for us (mom and dad) too. Who wants to turn their case into a chalk or dry erase board?

Project: Dry Erase Computer Case
I'd use it, write stuff like "lol gg nub" all over it and actual notes on the top

Having a computer with a whiteboard side would actually be pretty useful..... or your 2 year old daughter (no, I don't have one) could doodle on it for 'daddy'.

It's just the thing I've been looking for. I have a whiteboard in my room already, but it's really small. Next year when I'm in yr 12, I was planning to put butcher's paper up on all the walls of my bedroom for all my projects, so I can brainstorm and scribble down things and have something resembling a giant mindmap on my wall. But a blackboard is even better!

That dry erase stuff would be kickass for a desk, just write on it where you know it won't get erased... or on the ceiling, just draw on the ceiling for the hell of it, that'd be cool.

If you wanna do something cool with a ceiling; burst open a glowstick and throw the stuff in it on the ceiling and then repeat with other colours. It must be the coolest thing ive ever seen! And best of all it doesnt leave any mark on the ceiling!
Actually now that i think of it ive only ever tried it with blue ones (the 'juice' is clear) so other colours might stain.
I got all the painting done yesterday. I have to do a top coat of blue over the magnetic area to finish it off. Before they can be used, the dry erase has to cure 3 days, and the chalkboard has to cure for 2. The kids are very excited to use it for the first time. Quite frankly, I can't wait to check it out either. I'll post some action pics after everything is cured.

how long does that last? Because like when you crack them they glow for a bit, and they never glow again, so do you have to use a blacklight or what? I'm curious. Since i have a good 8 glowsticks in my room right now from my friend in the army. haha, 4 blue's and 4 red's.

The last time i broke a glowstick, it smelled kinda weird, and i couldn't get the smell off my hands.

Yeah, they do smell funny.. However, they are non-toxic.

I dont think so. but i really dont want to look to make sure! :D
Well, here we go guys. Some action shots. Remember, I still have to trim everything out, so it doesn't look finished atm. I'm not quite happy with the dry erase board paint. It works, but in order to get the marker completely off, you have to use that cleaning spray. That won't stop them from having fun with it though.

add a blacklight ot the mix, and the room EXPLODES when the light goes off!
:D

P.S. - that paint is especialy cool looking when splattered against some ceiling fan blades ;)
EDIT: Here is more, but this stuff is pricey.. http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g43/c12/s495/list/p1/Case_Parts-OEM-Case_Parts_Misc-UV_Paint-Page1.html
Good mod schtuff there... methinks that'd look cool on the paintjob I have planned for this case.

maybe with that dry erase stuff you could try giving it a spray of clear coat to give it a more glossy finish -> making it easier to rub off
