Is an anti-staticwrist-strap really needed when you're handling hardware?
It might be a stupid question but i just want to make sure 100%
Thanks

How about an anti-static mat?

id say just earth yourself by touching a bare part of the case before handling anything and also just handle cards, etc. by the edges

try not to assemble your computer while standing on carpet as well.

Along with the carpet... don't scuff your feet on the ground with socks on or anything else to generate static, and everything else that's been said is good advice too.

Cheap anti-static wriststrap: make sure your skin is touching the case as you remove/insert any hardware.
As far as inserting a M/B, if it has a large enough chipset heatsink, you can just hold it by that.
That's what I've done.
