View Full Version : Frankly Furtive?

Indybird

I thought someone would have made a thread about this already but I guess not so here it goes:

Simple Question: what is the "Frankly Furtive Forum"? There is nothing that makes sense in there. Is it a test section? Maybe jdbnsn could tell us?

Just curious, I sure hope this wasn't something that was discussed that I missed...

Neeways, I'm just curious.

ooo, i totally forgot about that. i mean like a couple of days there was some wierd thread there with some timing thing. then it disappeared and now its back. with the same clock counting down 46 days left till something. Does anyone know what's happening in 46 days? modcast maybe? or like, we get cake, TBCS bbq??? haha, what's happeing in 46 days?

Indybird
09-16-2007, 12:59 AM
46 days, wouldn't that be October 31st? Halloween? I dunno, but its either really important or it means nothing. Maybe the forum will get a massive overhaul, or umm...I don't even know.

-Indybird

EDIT: 900th Post (Just another 100 away!)

chaksq
09-16-2007, 01:49 AM
Yeah seriously what is that and why is the thread with the timer called zb?

Edit: I looked and if you notice it says "alea iacta est" before the timer. That is Latin and stands for "the die is cast" which is a reference to Julius Caesar. It is now a reference to something is inevitable will happen that cannot be taken back. What is inevitable with the forum? Please tell me this does not mean the forum could be shutting down. Upgrade maybe?

Its sort of annoying really, why they didn't do this like a week or two before hand? I don't know, but that would of been better I think. Less frustrating and all that. At least give us some clues!

Then again, what the hell do I know? lol

Crazy Buddhist

I'm sure we'll all know in good time and that it will all be good.

.. and I know for a fact it doesn't involve anything closing down .. so stop worrying

you know what they say about patience being a virtue ... hey .. we got given a chance to practice it.

The die has been cast.

Frankly = freely; candidly; openly; plainly
Furtive = taken, done, used, etc., surreptitiously or by stealth; secret; characterized by stealth; surreptitious.

I guess that forum is an "open secret"

hey does anyone know what means? more latin or just jibberish?

"a posse ad esse" is latin for "from possibility to reality"

Well its clear that somthing big is happening and we're not going to be told about it until the last minuite. Was i the only one that noticed that this counter appearing coincided with requests for donations?

.Maleficus.
09-16-2007, 09:07 AM
From possibility to reality (or actuality).

It's probably just a test forum. Or a countdown to the day the apocalypse is coming. I guess that's the fun of the forum; nobody really knows if they'll die from it or not ;).

Edit: Grrrr Xpirate, you beat me! LOL

Edit 2: Ohhh, I think I've got it!! But I don't know if I do or not!! If I do know, I wonder why...

Edit 2: Ohhh, I think I've got it!! But I don't know if I do or not!! If I do know, I wonder why...

Then what is it?

We've got clues:
The die is cast - usually means something like we've reached the point of no return.
From possibility to reality.
Frankly Furtive means openly secret.

This countdown is going to 11/01/2007 4:00:08 PM Central Standard Time. I looked at the clocklink code.

Oi, all of your speculations is making me even more curious than I was...

Its something that we've subliminally known about is most likely going to be turned permanent. Thats what I got out of all the clues.

Or a countdown to the day the apocalypse is coming. ...

Interesting word Apocalypse - it's greek of course and literally translates as "to take off the covers" but philosophically relates to the day that the truth will be revealed - got nothing to do with the Armegeddon type meaning that is portrayed by the masters of meaning, the priests and politicians.

Like most freedom words - democracy, anarchy, etc - the real meaning is the opposite of the percieved meaning. Why? in order that the masters of the universe can enjoy their total freedom - at the expense of ours.

The day cometh. Roll on.

I wouldn't doubt that they are having a good laugh, I'm not really "frantically" trying to figure it out, just using it as something to occupy some time.

Even though you claim you're not part of the staff, which I believe, I still don't believe that either a) you're not in on this somehow or b) you don't have some sort of clue as to what's going on.

But whatever, time to focus on other things and just wait until the do us the honors of revealing whatever little surprise they have for us.

As I said once before 7 is my favourite number (and 13 is my second favourite number but I don't think I said that). Both are primes of course and being more than a bit mathematical they hold a certain fascination for me.

I've always liked this bit of math:

7 x 7 = 49
3 x 17= 51
49+51=100

Prime numbers are fun.

So is all the speculation going on here.

Not sure what this is:
[30+39+40+62+74][5+8+47+85][9+14+16][29+35+40+42+44+90+114]

It's not the alphanumeric A=65 Z=90

I'm going to go mod something and think, tis interesting.

Maybe the red is whats right because of the crossword puzzle saying What you find blah blah blah

To this:
[30+39+40+62+74][5+8+47+85][9+14+16][29+35+40+42+44+90+114]

jdbnsn added:
{a=1, c=352}

which means ( I think ):
http://lh5.google.com/MachModAlbum/Rvfn764egQI/AAAAAAAAA54/sHQLnpRe0SI/s800/tbcs2.jpg

which translates to:
[COLOS][DONT][THE][BELIBEX]

...and then set his rep to an extreme negative number for posting useless stuff. That or Minty would declare it the "Most Pointless Thread of the Day" and give him a medal. And Bucko would edit the post, but not actually change anything, and have a misleading reason as to why it was edited.

(2nd nontotient + 5th Nontotient) -2

I didn't see the unedited version of this post, but the 2nd nontotient + 5th nontotient -2 part seems to be right up Jon's alley.

A quick google shows that the 2nd even nontotient is 26, the 5th even nontotient is 50, which gives us 76. Subtract 2, and that gives us 74. And the 74th post is this one:

"AERPHSEBMNATOD#OVICTOREHIA#CURAM#"

Amat victoria curam = Victory favors those who take pains

Leaving
"ERPHSEBNOD#OEH##"

Which reverses to(?)
WJLTIWZNMX_MWT__"

Taking a shot in the dark, will this eventually give a password to log into the mystery forum?

Personally, I think the whole thing's gone 19.

Edit: Someone + repped me saying I just posted the pass key in plain english. Wasn't that nice of me?

Now, someone care to enlighten me? Cause I'm still stumped.

Okay kiddies. Now that all of our brainiacs and contributors have had a chance to review the contents of the Frankly Furtive Forums, you are all invited to browse around in there. The forum is now unlocked. Do not start any new threads or they will be deleted. Here is the caveat, the clock will need to be reset to add a week or two due to unforseen circumstances. But fear not, I have consulted the Oracle and the die is indeed cast so march on we shall, and turn our backs to our destiny we shall not. Enjoy firends!
