NetBeans Installer

So I want to get back into the Java thing, so I downloaded the JDK and NetBeans, but the Error: Null Installer is giving my problems. After selecting the JDK from the menu of installed programs (v. 1.6.0_02 to be exact) the next screen says "Errors occurred during installation" and gives me a list with every item saying "null". What's going on?
