Is there any one out there who understands sub netting and would be willing to explain it to me by 02:00GMT? As I have spent all day and I just plain don't understand it. I can do binary maths but I just cant see how to do this.

An example of a question is

Given the host address of 152.202.34.4 and a subnet mask of 255.555.254.0, find the broadcast address and the subnetwork address of the subnet the host belongs to.

Ok so I manged to work out the answer.

Subnet 152.202.34.0
Broadcast 152.202.35.25

I believe this is right. Doing the and function on paper takes a long time. Is there a quick way?

Subnet is right.. broadcast would be 152.202.35.255
You're using 23 bits to subnet a Class B address. So, your last octet will always be .0 for the subnet, and the broadcast will be .255. Can't work it out on paper, but I'll see if I have time later today to work it out and scan it for you.

There is a much easier way. ;)

Here is a really easy way to do it (http://www.subnet-calculator.com/)

If you want to understand it here's a good guide (http://compnetworking.about.com/od/workingwithipaddresses/l/aa043000b.htm)
