Fan Controller

I had an idea for a fan controller. I'm thinking about using an old CD drive eject mechanism thing to have a fan controller that ejects out of the computer facing down and having a mechanism that makes the fan controller pivot so it faces forwards. Any ideas on how to do this would be great

All I can imagine is that you should keep the mechanics in the drive.. in the drive. The part with the pivoting is a tad harder to do in those limits.. I would say you take a look at rendermandan's thread, motorized madness.. or search it on google.. or try it somehow before doing it :)

for the pivoting part, i would say try to make it like those car cup holders. the ones with the spring where its like you push it in first. then the tray comes out and the bottom for the cup holder falls down. and since there is like a incline at the end of the bottom cup holder piece, it just automatically puts the bottom back to its normal position before it closes. so in summary i say gravity like in a car cup holder. im not sure if that makes sense, as i feel like i have a fever or cold.

i was thinking of just having a bar that would slide out with the controller, and stop, meaning that the still moving fan controller tilts upwards... I think I need a dose of sketchup
