Ladies and gentlemen,
What you have all been waiting for, the peek I have promised, the answers to your questions, shall be delivered now. This is the last piece to the puzzle and nothing more shall you recieve until the clock strikes zero. This is a HUGE file so if you have dial-up, I wouldn't bother or download it overnight, even broadband will take a minute. Sorry bout that, we compressed it as much as we could. So download, crank up the volume, and see what we will give you....and as always...Victory favors those who take pains.

The thread title: zb. any guesses? I though not, because it's gibberish. There is no symbolism behind it at all, just confusing misdirection.
Frankly=obvious Furtive=secret is just a play on words, nothing too cryptic.
The phrase: "A posse ad esse" is latin for "from possibility to reality" just means that a bunch of goof balls like us have pulled together as a team and will accomplish a great project that we should all be proud of. More on this after the clock strikes zero.
The Phrase: "Alea iacta est" Is a specific and famous quote in Latin. It was first written by one of Julius Caesar's favorite comedy writers. Caesar eventually gained enough political power by Roman citizens' admiration, and the military force as the general of the infamous 13th regimen of the Roman army (and the balls) to challenge his old ally Pompey Magnus for total control of Rome (which was at the time a Republic of senators dominated by the Triumvirate of Caesar, Magnus, and Crassus). During this time in Roman history, it was illegal for any Roman soldier to enter Rome either unannounced, armed, or against orders (the politicians of the time had every reason to be weary of military might). The boundary that marked the place where Roman soldiers were forbidden to cross was the Rubicon river passing nearby Rome. Caesar began his civil war for the chance to become the emporer of Rome by ordering his 13th to march across the Rubicon into Rome (from which Magnus fled for his life, which he later lost anyway). This event was enourmously pivotal in the history of Rome because it essentially set up the new style of empire lead civilation that Rome suffered until it's demise. So the connection to the phrase is just after he gave the order to March across the Rubicon on Rome, he was heard uttering "Alea iacta est" (The die is cast) meaning the plan has been set into motion past the point of no return and the only direction remaining is forward (just like the countdown clock). The reasons here are classified.
The word search was very easy to make, count the number of letters in my passcode translated into latin, start filling in a graph and be sure to leave that many open. Then I started "greening" correct answers. Then I saw that the puzzle was being solved about 50X faster than I had planned, so I started greening wrong answers, then redding correct answers, then letters, and phrases, then anything I could to lose everyone in a mess, and for the most part it worked. So after I was ready, I started dropping more solvable clues.
The rest is about as obvious as I get.

For a laugh, I'll add a statement I made in the staff forums while you code-breakers were tearing my little games to pieces.
Holy ****, I don't think I've been giving these guys enough credit. They have figured out some things that I thought were so obscure they would never know. The "XLIX" has two meanings, it's the number of words hidden in the puzzle in roman numerals (49), and it's where I got the title of the puzzle. The title is not a direct quote, but it is stolen from the the translated version of "Songs of Kabir", verse XLIX (THAT which you see is not: and for that which is, you have no words). I just chopped it up to fit the game. Kabir was a 120 year old Buddhist poet who lived back in the 1300's in India. Most of his teachings were written in two line meter (like the title of the puzzle). I just tossed this in for kicks but never expected anyone to get it. Yikes! I better hurry up and get the rest of the game put together.

/OT
Hmm... I wonder what the big surprise is... free copies of Crysis for everyone?!?! ^_-
Scotty
11-13-2007, 03:29 PM
Pfft lucky Americans, not out until the 16th in the UK, so no, no free Crysis. I wish though.
i don't wish, my GFX card carn't run it, my lowly ATI Radeon 9200SE
xRyokenx
11-13-2007, 03:35 PM
I can hope can't I? Well, I've got some cash for it and I'll pick it up. I'll try to remember to write a review after I beat it.
.....review after I beat it.

Yeah. Five months... or was it millenniums...?
Scotty
11-13-2007, 04:38 PM
The later, im sure of it.
I lol'd if you did it in 5 days, albeit 5 straight days of non stop crysis, infact, that would probably be possible. time to take a week from college.

11-13-2007, 04:42 PM
Good thing it's on a Wednesday, I only have one class then. I know what I'm going to be doing afterwards, lol. I wonder if I can get it to run decently on medium... hmm...
Scotty
11-13-2007, 05:13 PM

On Time
FLy envious Time, till thou run out thy race,
Call on the lazy leaden-stepping hours,
Whose speed is but the heavy Plummets pace;
And glut thy self with what thy womb devours,
Which is no more then what is false and vain,
And meerly mortal dross;
So little is our loss,
So little is thy gain.
For when as each thing bad thou hast entomb'd,
And last of all, thy greedy self consum'd,
Then long Eternity shall greet our bliss
With an individual kiss;
And Joy shall overtake us as a flood,
When every thing that is sincerely good
And perfectly divine,
With Truth, and Peace, and Love shall ever shine
About the supreme Throne
Of him, t' whose happy-making sight alone,
When once our heav'nly-guided soul shall clime,
Then all this Earthy grosnes quit,

Whinnie the Pooh on Anticipation
‘What do you like doing best in the world Pooh?’
‘Well,’ said Pooh, ‘what I like best -- ‘ and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn’t know what it was called.

11-14-2007, 11:18 PM
the anticipation? so does that mean preparing for what is going to happen is more fun then what whats gunna happen? does this mean all this suffering for something thats gunna suck?
Scotty
11-15-2007, 03:11 AM
Yes.
Elenril
11-15-2007, 07:07 AM
The anticipation isn't the actual preparing for it. The anticipation is that feeling for the members of 'oooooh something great's gonna happen, I feel all warm and eager and bouyant just waiting for this wonderful thing to come into my life!!' and that feeling for the staff of 'all that hard work I've been doing for the last 2 months is finally going to pay off, everyone will be staggered and amazed, I've done a job well done and I can finally sit back, relax and be worshipped.'
Or something to that effect.
only 10 hours and 14 minutes to go!

No you don't. You all woked hard man. Everyone is thankful of yours and all the staff's effort. I tried writing a wiki today on wifi. I got 90% of the content mapped out and significant chunks of the text then deleted it all. Damn laptop.
