I was wondering how I would go about making a neon randomly flicker. Basically the same as all the neon signs in the movies where they are always flickering.

Hmmm... subtract a noise, generated by small noise generator (2 sinusoidal signals, one with a higher frequency, so you get a 'seesaw' with chipped blades ;) ), from the 12V.. that would add a flicker :) and it could be controlled :)

I think that you would need a PCB, with an IC (555 timer I think) and set it to flicker randomly by changing a resistor and a capacitor somewhere. Im not 100% sure at the moment how to do this, but I'm working on one at school, however not for the same purpose.
