I have a starting question lol, I know nothing really about modding but i want to learn, heard about this place from crimsons book, Well here goes the question. Im painting a mouse i know its small but a start it is metallic if i got this right i dont wetsand any of the paint on metallic ? I just wetsand the clear coat it is rustoleum if that matters . Please excuse my posting skill need work on those also btw ,how many coats of clear would you suggest im gonna let the piant dry till next weekend ,if nothing happens that maybe overkill but im in no rush. Well thats a start just want to say hello hope to get to modding soon ,Awesome case mods i have seen in here seems like a good place to start btw .I am looking at building a small shop for modding and light can anyone recommend a good size for some one on a budget i know biggest i can afford lol but what works for you.

I'm not really sure about wetsanding metallic paint. If it looks pretty good and doesn't have too much orange peel (ripply texture) then don't worry about it. You can always come back and wetsand the clear. I also suggest getting some rubbing compound. That is like really fine liquid sandpaper, and makes for a really nice shine.
I don't have any ideas about a modding shop, I just use the open space in my garage. As far as your budget goes, go to a hardware store, look at some wood, and see what all you can buy with it.

Greetings and welcome to TBCS! I'm sure you enjoy your stay here, theres a ton of great people around.
Now I'm sure you'll get more responses on this, but you are correct in that you don't want to sand the metallic paint, as it could ruin the bright look. You will, however, want to wetsand the clearcoat. It looks like you're on the right track - Paul's book is great for this sort of thing.

Welcome to TBCS!
the way i did my metallic paint job i gave it about 4 coats of the metallic paint on 3 coats of primer(sanded smooth)
i did a coat of paint about every hour... then on the last coat i immediately hit it with a very generous layer of clear( about enough to where it drips but not so much that it bubbles up on surfaces) then i gave it 2 more coats after an hour between
this is how my mouse came out

i wet sanded the last coats with 800 and 1200 then polished it 3 days after curing
