I'm trying to find one of those exploring games... where you pretty much just walk around... well... exploring.

These games usually have amazing graphics to make up for action... I haven't been able to find one but I know they're out there. Help?

Myst was pretty good back in the day, they created a sequel like 2 years back, not sure what is was named.

Morrowind was good in its day... that game was kinda lame at the lower levels. If Oblivion had that much stuff you could find and all it'd be great, but whatever... Myst was kinda cool though. Hmm...

Hope I don't get stoned for mentioning this game, but Dreamfall has some excellent graphics and sound, if you have surround sound,

-that is, if you can get over the fact that you are playing a girl for most (not all) of the game.

I ran it on a 6800XT with this config:

640x480
Medium Textures
Max distance on everything but grass
HDR Lighting
No AA - Didn't work with lighting
All water stuff on along with window reflections
Shadows on low.
Mods that increased texture quality and all.

It is a lot of running with some combat. You don't want to fight? Turn down the difficulty, lol.

Call me a pervert if you will, but I play as a female Dark Elf in Oblivion, just a cooler looking character and I get tired of playing as a dude, lol. But yeah, fun game.

Wuahahaha! Yes! Best reply ever!

But yeah, good luck getting it for less than $50... they still freakin' charge that much for a game that's getting forgotten about. Wasn't it made in like 2005?

It's ridiculous how much they charge. They should drop the price a couple months after launch and make it seem like there won't be more copies for a while to get all the suckers to buy the crap at launch. :F

Myst
Dreamfall
Syberia

I think the games you're looking for are Adventure games. Popular in the '90s, died out except for Myst, which is now done too.

If you like those games (I like a few) then Grim Fandango is a must. Sooo fun.

Yeah, i'll second that, me and my girl played it through together a while back, and it really captivated me, i really got into the story and the locations.
I have to say i thought it was an absolutly fantastic game!

Myst sequel was called "Riven". I have both actually.. :D

Check out the King's Quest series from Sierra. Point and click adventures with beautiful environments. Pretty linear story, but still pretty nice.

I really enjoyed exploring in WoW and Guild Wars.. Oblivion and 2 Worlds look to be sort of similar for exploration also. :)

WoW was fun for a while, until I ran into trouble selling stuff at AH and my guild turned to crap, no groups for instances or anything, anywhere. My realm just kind of went to hell and grinding as a warrior that doesn't do good for crowd control sucks, no matter if he's a goblin engineer or anything. Is Guild Wars any fun? If there's a second coming out, that might be worth waiting for as starting in a MMORPG when it's been out for a while sucks. /rambling

But yeah, Oblivion looks great, they need less monsters and more interesting quests that take longer than fifteen minutes or one dungeon to finish, at least besides the main guild ones and the storyline one... King's Quest was great, older games, but still fun... Ultima is great too, albeit old.

There are 3 expansion packs out for Guild Wars I believe, the latest of which just came out recently. I havent looked at it for quite awhile, so I could be wrong..

The nicest thing about guild wars was henchmen. You can recruit a full group of henchmen, and not have to deal with PUG's at all. You can even control them somewhat, so you can have all the character classes covered. Healers will heal you, blasters will do ranged distance, and the melee's will get right in the thick of things and tank for you. It's pretty fun actually!

Sweet, sounds like my kind of game... especially since I don't have to deal with either 10 year olds with mouths dirtier than raw sewage or idiot family members that don't listen or get what your saying. I'll have to give it a shot, how much is the latest expansion, and is it stand alone?

thanks guys, I'll check them out. none of the names rang a bell of the one I remember back in the day (2000 or so?)... If I find out I'll post here.

i don't know how the game play is going to be but there is a Stargate game coming out that if it follows most of the show should be a lot of exploring but some action too.

http://www.cheyenneme.com/games/stargateworlds/

Thats the general info but I haven't found anything on release date and such. This one I may have to give up my WoW account for if its any good.

Yes, it's like $20-50, I can't remember. But you buy it and that's it, no subscription needed.
