Hi again. I just got a buinch of new hardware a little while ago and it seemed to be running fine and dandy. Must say i'm loving the 88, great graphics card.
I preformed a format/re-install of windows XP w/o SP2.
I downloaded SP2 and burnt to a CD and loaded onto my pc since my other atlernative was to dl it from the net.
For my to get the internet i need USB 2.0 controller to get my DWL G-132 to work (USB receiver) and in order for that to work i need SP2...in order for me to get SP2 i need internet......
LOL

So anyways SP2 is now on my machine, with the drivers CD for the mobo i installed everything excpect for the RAID, I have two very un-identical drives so no point...plus i need to make a floppy disk, which my pc is lacking a floppy drive.
Anyways my problem: I must be missing a driver or a chunk of software cuz my friggin' OS keeps dropping. Goes to that deadly blue screen saying your system has crashed! Sometime games with intermitently stutter or close right out asking me to send an error report. So I have the
Asus M2A-VM mobo
EVGA 8800GTS
2Gb of Crucail Ballistix
AMD X2 5000+
PS/2 keyboard and a USB legitech wireless mouse

I think thats everything that would be relivant. To my knowledge I have installed and updated every driver my system requires...still i feel that something is missing like a CPU driver or utility....i just don't know...
ANY HELP PLS???
or suggestions rather :)

id say boot to safe mode and uninstall drivers one by one until you get a stable system and then you can start installing them again

ahh good suggestion. I will try this regardless. but i guess i shoulda added in the first message that I have tried to install the systems drivers twice now, complete format. Im thinking that i'm just missing something off of my checklist but ughh....i dunno :(

What PSU do you have? 8800's draw loads of power (from what I understand), and if you have an insufficient PSU then you may experience general weirdness, and random blue screens/reboots.

Also, check your Event Viewer (control panel -> administrative tools) for details on what caused the crash, and post it here. ;)

ahhhh that sounds pretty good, I had used asus's psu calculator, i believe i got a 600W. The event viewer i will have to post later as i'm just at work atm.

Ok here is what i've got so far. I will take a screen shot right after it crashes, which shouldn't be too long from now.

This picture notes what I see right when I open the event viewer.

This is when it started.

So let me know if any of those entries you would wanna see any closer and i'll bring 'em up. Otherwise i guess i'll just wait to see what happens after the crash....

i think you should thing of the psu, maybe you can give a few more clues about it,and besides i think, not sure but the watts that says in the power supply are only in optimal condition like moon eclipse,31 of february and more,i think that could be,and the 8800 needs a lot of power

This is the PSU that i got for it.

This is one of the calculators that i used recently to check and make sure everything is ok.

EDIT: My resulting power req. was 287W

Ok I've gots an idea now. Going off of what calum said about redoing all the drivers in safe mode....Going through the manual once again, i read this blurp that says "Make sure you the Windows XP Service Pack 1 or later versions before installing the drivers for better compatability and system stability"

Sooo....I believe I had tried installing the drivers b4 updating to SP2, all i had b4 was the XP no SP. So i guess i'll go home tonight and try to fix that.
