View Full Version : "$1 Padding"?

Hi,
I hope this is an acceptable section to place my question...

In searching for some online deals towards Dell product purchases, I've come across the phrase [something to the effect of] "make sure to add some $1 padding to your order in order to make the coupon work" a few times.
Even here, at this forum:

Can someone please explain that in a little more detail? Is there actually anything available for purchase at dell for only one dollar? Is there some sort of special method to receive "$1 padding" that I'm not aware of?
I've spoken to Dell reps over the phone a couple times now regarding the matter, and apparently there's nothing available for sale there under 9 dollars.

I have a $35-off coupon at Dell and found the product I was looking for for $34.99. The discount can't be applied unless the sale is $35.01 or higher! :p

So the way it is now, I'm forced to add on the $9 product I don't really need in order to get the discount.

Anyway, a little clarification on the padding thing would be a big help.
TIA!
