View Full Version : My friend wonders why I haven't blocked this guy yet
He's fun to talk to sometimes, as the following conversation will show. But he is completely oblivious to absolutely anything involving a computer at all. And he's also trying to start up a website. It can be tiresome, but sometimes there's something that just makes it all worth it. The last line is the best.

When I've talked to him about him wanting to have a website before, he had no idea how to add content and wanted to "Learn FTP". You could take just the most basic knowledge that anyone here should know, and it would confuse him.

Everyone has to start somewhere. But if this guy doesn't even know what Windows is...he's going to be in first gear for a very long time. This person probably has some kind of mental handicap, so it's probably a good thing that you have been patient and nice to him.

after the modding contest one of the employes there was came up to me and was like ( so uh what u gonna do with the prize money, buy windows VEESTA???) and im like actually yeah i am and so he gets me ultimate and im like i cant by that with 250$ so i went to the other side and got the system builder edition of premium for 110$ and he wass like wats that
there was this one kid in my school last year that tried to be friends with me and my friends by lying about stuff and so since he new i knew alot about computers he tried lying to me about **** except when we got to his house he had a dell (which he said was a supercomputer his dad built that was top secret) and he thought the tower was "the cd drive" and the montior was the "computer" i knew b4 that that he was full of it but that sealed the deal after that me and a friend of mine would go up to him and not like talk directly to him but make sure e could hear it and we would make up fake computer words and just talk about how awesome they were then the next day hed come in saying his dad built him a super computer with a petahertz of hard drive space and i just started cracking up and blew him off
he moved and i dont feel bad about it hes a loser at that school to

7:00 phone call yesterday morning, on my way home from work:
Friend: Dude, I can't get Ubuntu to work in VMware. I downloaded the iso, burned it to CD, and even have the VM Player. Why can't I find the vmx file?
Me: Because you didn't create one using VMware server. Install that first and follow the instructions after that.
Friend: ok
My phone rang again at 1:00 this morning. A 2 hour conversation ensued. Here is a condensed version of that conversation.

He FINALLY downloads VMware server and gets Ubuntu setup.

that guy is even worst than of of my friend. She came hom yesterday, telling me she cant burn one of the movie she made in QT; 850Mb on a CD... do I have to answer?
Then: I have another problem; I cant export the movie on my timeline (2:30 min) the computer tell me there's not enough space on my hard drive (8Gb)
Me: let me take a look
on her timline, she left unused material at the end. So the timeline length is about 1:30 hour...
I just put an in/out point then export it

Apparently he didn't take heed to your warnings. So he bought the hard drive anywho...once he figures out how to get the power I hope he doesn't think all his files are going to be there. He still needs windows... ... ...

What the hell did he do? If he just unplugged a hard drive and plugged a new one in then there shouldn't be an issue with power. Even if he didn't plug the damn drive back in...

Tell him:
I know this might sound strange but I need you to test something for me to be sure I am diagnosing the correct problem. If I am right, it will work.
First- Stick your tongue into one of the plugs you put into the hard drive. Make sure you touch all the shiny metal things in there evenly.
Then-Make sure the cord is plugged in. Don't forget this part.
Now- Push the power button and tell me what happens.
LMAO, I bet he'd try it to.

@ Nighttrain - Trust me, he didn't ACTUALLY buy a hard drive. He probably got a new desktop, thinking that it's a hard drive (where the Intel D came from).
If the LEDs are on, there's power.
He probably forgot to plug in a monitor :D:D. Or forgot to turn it on :D:D.

Oh god, the idiots that bitch about them buying their kid Resident Evil or GTA and not reading the box and all that, right? I hate those kind of people... maybe there is a reason I shouldn't work at GameStop... (I don't work there atm. I wish I did)
