Logitech G15 Keyboard

I haven't had a chance to play with one yet, but I've been seriously considering buying one for my new setup. Only issue I have with it honestly is it's blue lighting since everything else on my rig is red. I was just wondering if there's an on/off switch for the leds on the thing. I might try switching the blue leds to red later, but right now I'm not so sure about my soldering skills.

Get a Saitek Eclipse (http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/eclipseii.htm) instead. Looks much better and lights up in red, blue or purple.

Or the Mk1 (http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/eclipse.htm), which is only one colour, but available in red or blue.

I have a Saitek Eclipse actually ... it died about 2 months after I bought it so no go there. Not buying another one. Also, I'm buying the G15 for it's additional features (the programmable macro keys, etc)

yes there is a key/button to shut the lights off. it will go low-high-off. the only this is it also shuts off the lcd light too.

You can still read the LCD with lights on in the room though right? Or does it shut the LCD down completely?

ya if you have light of the lcd you can still read it. i like everything about it accept the G keys are a little to close to the rest of the keyboard for my liking, but thats just the way i place my hand on it.

Thanks Spawn, yeah I was looking at a tarantula but I don't like the fact the keys are on either side. I play with an Ideazon FANG to the left of my keyboard, and a G5 mouse to the right. I don't like taking my hand off of my mouse unless I REALLY have to.

i got my g15 for about hm... *hits some letters on the g15* lets say 5 months :D i love it but i dont use the standart progs because there are sooo many cool applets out there (uses sir reals multi panel and rays winamp plugin <3)

ya i use lcdstudio (http://www.lcdstudio.com/site20/home.php), and made a really neat program, but it requires that like 4 programs run to get all the info so i don't have enough ram to run it all plus a game. but now that i'm getting 4gbs should be great!

Sick, well I think someone at best buy screwed up. Because I haven't found the version 2 of the keyboard anywhere online ... but they had it on their shelves (on sale) I think someone put the wrong keyboards out for sale. So grats me on getting a version 2 for a version 1 sale price. Also picked up a v2 G5 mouse.

the two main places are G15 forums (http://www.g15forums.com/) and G15Mods (http://www.g15mods.com/). but if you want to make your own like i did then get LCDStudio (http://www.lcdstudio.com/site20/home.php).

You can remove the LED's in a G15 and change them to red if you want, it's a simple mod and only requires some soldering.

The only thing with changing the LED's is that the LCD will still glow a white/blue colour but it is a great contrast with the red.

I have found that the best site for the LCD applets is www.g15mods.com. They have all the mods you need for practically everything. Like Spawn I to use LCD studio and wouldn't use anything else, it is very easy to use.

Actually, my G15 isn't blue. I got the new version and the new version of the G5 mouse. The new keyboard can be seen here:

And yeah, it's not a red glow but close enough that I'm not going to be upset.

Not a bad looking keyboard, I like mine better tho lol. They changed it too much. Mod should still work the same.

i really love the feel of the g 15... ive had mine for over a year now....and its wonderful.... lots of fun to make applets for it through lcd studio

My only real gripe (aside from the lights being orange of course, and that's a minor one) is I do wish they had placed the G keys a little further from the rest of the keys. An inch of space would've been perfect.

always used to hit the G keys when going for the Esc or Tsp keys, after a week of use i got used to it, haven't hit em since.

yup, my pinky finger touches the G keys which is annoying, so whether you went with the new or old it still would have happened.

Good news, my arena rating in WoW went up after getting the new mouse and keyboard. Hurray for having easier access to buttons!

The macros didn't hurt either.

The new G5 is identical to the old one apart from it has a forward button on the left side as well as the back one. It's a shame they changed the paint work though, the rusted orange/silver look looked insane.

I would prefer the new g15, but since i just bought mine like 2 weeks ago, yeah.
Plus I wouldn't pay $100 for it, reduce the price to the original and ill consider it.

Reasons why the new one is awesome:
Alot cleaner looking
red/orange > blue
better looking "silver"
smaller
keys arent overly marked (con is the window key and some keys only have arrows...)
lcd is more protected

why people like the old g15:
bigger?
ALOT of macro keys
bigger lcd
blue (for some people)
scrolling sound knob

The old G15 will is being discontinued, so yeah. After stock runs out across the world your not gonna be able to buy it, so some people are buying "spares" lol.

I would by a spare if I had the cash lol. The new one looks cool but the old one suits my needs and matches my rig.
