What's your favorite stock PC, note book, PDA, etc...? Yes this includes computers built with stock parts. Nothing modded.

Mine would be the commercial Mid and Full Tower AOpens. Reason being that he would get the ones that companies fried and he would swap out parts to make them work. Once they were working they were awesome little devils.

Whats yours???

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but what would be the point of this thread? I mean... what actually makes a computer "stock" when there are high end gaming computers straight from the manufacturer? They are not modded yet they come with all the goodies.

I dunno, I just don't see how this thread can possibly have a legitimate answer unless you pick the most expensive production computer made which you'd think would be the obvious answer for anyone in here.

Although I'm 95% sure Mal meant the 002, he proved my point. lol. :D

Yes, that's the one I meant. But I didn't prove your point.

The point is a not-modded computer. Stock. Nothing done with it. Which is why I picked the Blackbird; it's got a cool case, nice parts, and good features for a stock computer.

The sgi Tezro is my _current_ favorite, even though it is an older system.

...but then again I am an sgi fanboy...

The blackbird still has a modded case, the paint and the construction isn't stock. That Voodoo DNA thing it has in it isn't stock. You can upgrade parts, if u do it doesn't make the rig stock cos u have customized it in your order. All the Voodoo comps have been modded. The cases are blank to start with, you pick the color u want and they spray it, therefore from scratch the PC has been modded and isn't stock. The blackbird and the Voodoo PC's can also be water cooled, this of course means the system has been modded due to the water cooling not being stock.

With this all being said I personally love all of the Voodoo PC's and think the Blackbird 002's case is awesome.

I would say that the definition of stock needs to be laid out. If you order a Dell online they are customizing it to your request. Same with Voodoo, even if they paint or add parts or water cool it, it is still "stock" since it was shipped from the manufacturer in that condition.

Well, then maybe you should clarify this, and say "Stock Case" rather than Stock PC.

For a factory built case, I like the P180, as it's clean/quiet, and understated. Aside from that, I like most Shuttle cases, and as much as I'm ashamed to say it, Apple's design team wins. Mac Mini and the new Imacs...SEXY.

*damn.. seconds behind Airbozo!*

My favorite factory hardware computer is a bit of a throwback and horribly outdated. I love the old IBM Thinkpad 560E (probably any of the 560 series). This was the original ultra lightweight laptop. At 4 pounds this still weighs less than any of my other laptops. Plus the screen on this is great (assuming you have the tft model). This was just a well built machine.

I want to try and restore some useablilty to mine, expect to see a project log in the future.

I agree with what Airbozo said but to a degree. Even if the manufacturer of the complete PC has made modifications to hardware such as painting or water cooling this is still a mod due to the original manufacturer such as Nvidia or Antec not making it that way. If Voodoo make a PC and water cool the CPU and GPU this would still be a mod because you would be removing their "STOCK" heatsinks to do so, this changes the manufacturers default configurations and ideally making it a mod. You would be hard pressed finding a completely "stock" PC, even changing flat IDE cables to round ones is a mod.

Something awesome and overpriced from Vadim with awesome airbrushing, it's not stock after that but who cares, it's not been built by me so i would say it's stock.

Greco101: I know this has no exact point, just wanted to see if anyone picked out a specific case before they modded it. Thats all.

Oh well if you mean oem cases from companies like Dell and such I like the old school Dell XPS cases (see the one I am working on right now). Dell and a few other companies decided to use the same case for almost a decade but just kept changing the front panel.

I picked the NZXT LEXA (first edition, blue lights). I diden't intend to mod it but I just couldn't help myself when I wanted to do water cooling.

I'd have to say my Pocket PC... it's an HP iPAQ rx4240. The thing that would make it better is if it were the model up, that and if the buttons worked and if the case weren't cracked. I srsly need to mail it in but haven't yet, life just keeps getting in the way.

Windows Mobile ftw!
