at the very least you get some free parts to mess with and a heatsink to mod.

If you get the rebate, and in a timely manor I guess its a decent deal. Its not going to break any records or anything. Won't play Oblivion or anything like that, but it'l play WoW decent enough.

Not that I would buy one (just bought a 8800 gts), I was just posing the question if it was worth the time and effort for such a weak card.

It seems to be an online only special as when I popped into Fry's today they knew nothing about it.

I got my 8500GT for $70 (I was too lazy to send in the $10 MIB)... if the rebate doesn't go through you'd get ripped off. Since it's not Newegg and I don't know how good EVGA is about handling rebates, I say avoid that like the plague. That card's only good enough for a low end media PC anyways.

Is that one directly through EVGA? As far as I last knew, Tigerdirect outsourced their rebate system to some other site, and going through them sucks huge ass monkey balls, I never got a damn thing from them. Which, had I, I would be a few hundred bucks richer from the rebates I never got.

I have a simillar card, but it's the PCI (Yes pci) version. I would not go for the VGA one unless it's a server or a internet station. but for a second card, it's great

it's a 5200 O.o I play on a 6200-le rev. A, and it's just barely decent enough to not catch a whole buttload of lag and choke playing Wow, sucks for playing cs:s but I'm cheap and my system is highly out-dated so oh well, it would be alrighty for putting together the kids chatbox imo, nothing more really.

Also have a similar version, I have the 2003 MX 5200 (basically the same in specs), and theres no lag on MMO's.
Run everything up to CNC3, but then you have to put the graphics on low (still runs smoothly). Runs faster than alot of VGA cards, but not mid-high end cards.

This MSI brand 8500GT is awesome. CnC3 maxed out at 1024x768 and I have yet to try it at 1280x1024. I can also OC the hell out of it, check the GPU-Z thread. I got it for like $70 off Newegg and you can run two in SLI. Okay, enough advertising for now. :p

You should open a business, I'd be buying alot from you the first day. Seriously.

Hahaha, maybe after I get established in the future. I'm going into Psychology. ^_^

But yeah, maybe I'll open a shop around here and just order parts off Newegg or from the companies directly, we'll see. I mean, this PC I have is a good low-mid range gaming PC. Thinking about it... it'd probably be a $600-750 PC if I didn't upgrade it so much, what can you get from Dell? Probably not one that's as good. I don't know what they put in their computers but it seems to be low end stuff.

I have dealt with eVGA on rebates and had no problems about getting my money, it took about 6-8 weeks but I did get my rebate. Happy Modding to ya.
