I've turned my Toshiba Satellite into a gaming machine. This piece of crap is basically a useless computer. 1Ghz Celeron processor (eewwww!) and 370 odd meg of ram. The batteries are dead and are now lost somewhere in my house, so it only runs on mains power.

Perfect for gaming, right? Well in my case, yes! I've put on a whole stack of older games I haven't played in a while and anything else that runs on old system specs. Perfect to drag to work to pass some time on night shift and keep my music on as well.

First up, no quality gaming laptop should be without a quality paint job. Seeing as this is a Craptop that is far from quality, the paint reflects this:

The green skulls were cut from a stick on skin for a PS2. I bought the skin months ago for under $5 and never used it, so it was time to get the scissors out! The mouse is a stock HP mouse I found lying around and gave it paint to match the Craptop.

On the inside, I realised that nothing says high class like woodgrain, so with some cheap vinyl off cuts I was able to give this remarkable finish.

The touch pad still works fine with the woodgrain covering. I got an exacto knife out and cut around the XP sticker and the Intel sticker.

Keeping my no-cost mods going on this Craptop, I decided to make use of the empty battery bay. With some stick on sponge weather stripping on my USB HDD:

it happens to slide in nicely and doesn't move or fall out.

Total cost for this mod? Believe it or not, less than $5!

If it works it works right? Hell yeah! Good job, if it helps fight the boredom that is even better. Sweet usage of that empty bay.

looks thin enough to throw in a full tower for a build in side screen.

Nice paint job mate. I got one of those old satellites for free and sold it to a mate for $50 haha.

The sad thing is that my main comp only has a p2 or p3 500mhz processor (I definetly need a new comp) Anyways, thats a nice looking mod, for a pos. I realy like the woodgrain idea.

Even though that wood grain looks completely cheesy, I love this mod man. Have fun with it.
