check for any LEDs on your motherboard that are lit up which might indicate some conflict. To troubleshoot your power supply, find an equivalent psu to test with the rest of your hardware.

you can try jumping your psu with a piece of wire. you need to connect the green wire to the black on the 24pin connector

What brand stuff do you have? If you had a cheaper brand PSU or mobo or something that could've done it.

Before you jump to any conclusions, start with the cheap and easy fixes. All steps below are in order from easiest/cheapest, to worst case scenario.
Ensure everything is plugged in, surge protector is turned on, try directly to the outlet, replace the power cable, switch on teh back of the power supply, make sure the power switch is properly connected to the mobo.
Next, start removing devices, so you have just a mobo, and cpu. Try to power on. Still nothing? Test another power supply.
If STILL nothing, try a diff cpu. Still nothing? Motherboard.

Adding onto what luke said, also try a completely different outlet if it still doesn't work after going directly to the outlet your surge protectors in.

sometimes jumping a power supply isnt the best way to thouroughly test it, i had one with a blown capacitor that powered on when connected to only a fan, but would provide enough juice for a system

PSU testers are cheap, and totally helpful to have. I got mine for $15, and it's saved me so many headaches.
