BF2142 Vista Errors

Ok so here's the story. I have got my new comp running great (check specs in sig) running Vista Home Premium 64bit (OEM) and am having a few problems with my games but the main problem is with BF2142.
When I first installed BF2142 and patched it to the latest version the game was working fine but after a few days it started cut out while the server was changing maps, I have found this to be a common problem and have tried many things from the net but without any success. About a week after this problem I started getting a memory error which I managed to fix with an article I found on the Internet. Now (about 5 weeks after installation) I load the game and play for about half an hour and the game will freeze (like my old **** 6600GT would but I know that was just cos it was a **** GPU) and the old may to exit the game it the good old ctrl+alt+delete.

I know 64bit versions are having teething problems but come on, I built my PC so I could actually play games and at the moment it is like I never upgraded. If anyone has had similar problems or knows how to fix this problem please PM me or post a comment, this is really starting to piss me off lol.

Why did you go with Vista if you were planning on playing games?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I'd contact EA about it... they're usually good about having some decent responses although they take will take their sweet ass time.

If the game freezes during loading the map, go into your 2142 folder. Make sure you have windows set to show hidden files. There is a file called radail.cbd. Delete it.
It will be re-created next time you run the game.

Thanks. I went for vista cos I didn't want to buy another license for my OEM version of of XP Home, and I wanted DX10 :) I have tried uninstalling it a number of times now.
I can't find that radial.cbd file, even with show hidden files. I have even done a system search and it came up with nothing.

By saying uninstalling it I mean the whole game (about 3-4 times now).
I have downloaded a few of these hotfixes but will try the first one on the page (one that covers crashes of 3D applications at high graphics settings).

Well I tried the hotfixes, all of them and it hasn't made a difference. I have also updated punkbuster and still no change. I guess I have to wait for some more updates from Microsoft and wait for a new patch from EA. In the mean time I have switched back over to BF2.

Yeah it is pretty good. Just don't like how the stupid add on packs (Armoured Fury and Euro Force) don't like to play nice with my online account :)

I noticed that too... I have them but if I try to play the damn maps it says I don't have the expansion.

I can play Armoured Fury maps but not Euro Force ones. Oh well, it's only 3 maps per ad on anyway.
