The monitor on my daughter's Care bear computer crapped out, so now she's using my 19 inch LCD. Even I'm jealous!

The Specs are:
Asus motherboard
Athlon XP 2200+
512MB DDR333 Kingston HyperX
Radeon 9700Pro 128MB
Soundblaster 5.1

I've decided to do more upgrades just for the hell of it. Really, I think it'll be funny that her Care Bear panel could be hiding some sweeeeet components that anyone would want.

I bought another Kingston HyperX 512MB module to give her a total of 1GB. I'm also thinking of upgrading her 128MB Radeon 9700 Pro with something better. Would anything 256bit, 256MB be better? What do you suggest costing no more than $100?

She's gonna be 6 next month. I just thought it would be funny for a Care Bear computer to be loaded.

I don't need anything. And I've already spent $600 for the Vapochill.

show off.

My mom won't let me build a PC for my sister. She says she spend too much time on it now. But I think it would be fun to build something I would never build for myself. Like purple or something.

Anyway, for the graphics card, get an X700 for $109 at newegg. That wouldn't be half bad: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125206

Trust me. When you move away from mom you can do/buy whatever you want. :D

Well i dont think giving your daughter anything that powerful would really be necesary. I mean, if shes into carebears do you really think she will be playing Doom3 or F.E.A.R.? BTW get a 6600GT instead of anythin glike a 9800 or X700. Will pwn it in anything.

Update the processor... a 2200+ does NOT fit with that ram... It's cool to have 512MB of HyperX, but not with a 2200+, get a 2800+ or so. The 2800+ (retail) at Newegg is $99 and the 3000+ (processor only) is like $107.
Here's the link Newegg AMD Athlon XP Processor list (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=&PropertyCodeValue=507%3A6977&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=343&Submit=Property)

Flaming Nora! A 6 year old kid can't live without quad opterons! nah, seriously that's better than anything a kid will need. Not to be patronising but I think she may be a few years off learning 3ds max ;)

well i think the care bears are just as awesome as when they came out (when i was little) - i would so sport that sh*t now lol. not a specific hardware thing, but why don't you do something to those speakers? like, make them clouds or put the components in a mini-plush care bear so it "talks" or something... they're the only things that look all BLACK against the pastels. and she's lucky to have you - can you be my dad too?!!
