Ok, here is the story and FIX I found for the Nvidia cards that have only black and white output on the svideo port.

I modded a new case and decided to use a 7" widescreen LCD in the front of the case and run the composite feed from my 8800GTS. Before I started my mod, I tested the 8800's included Svideo-to-Composite converter cable and the LCD worked great. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate (hey, I worked on a helpdesk for Microsoft so getting Vista Ultimate for only $30 was worth it.)

After my mod was done, I found out that I my LCD would only be viewable in Black and White (and was fuzzy as hell!!!!).

After some work, I first thought that my LCD had gone bad and I had static damage to it, but testing it via another computer's Svideo-output I found that the LCD was working in color just fine.

At that point I thought that the 8800GTS had taken damage though game ran without problems out of the DVI ports and no crashes or lockups occurred. All burn-in stress testing test ran fine and without errors.

I did remember that I had just done a video driver upgrade to the 163.69 drivers...but I didn't remember what drivers I had before this. I tried moving back a few revisions but running NFR first then installing the older drivers, but nothing worked.

I finally reverted all the way back to the 162.22 drivers and FINALLY the LCD would be in color and a bit sharper!

I moved forward to the 163.69 and the issue showed up again. Reverting back to the 162.22's gave me color on my lcd again.

So...if you are having problems or know someone that is having issues with the 7xxx or 8xxx cards' svideo port only giving a black and white image, have them use "Nasty File Remover" in safemode to remove the current Nvidia drivers and then install the 162.22's. (3dguru.com has them).

Happy Modding!

Which OS are you using?

EDIT: Found out. You're using Vista. The problem is being worked on and is solved in 163.71 for XP.

Try this:

I did try that driver and it didn't correct the 8800GTS's issue, but I do appreciate heads up that they are working on it!

I've also heard it's a vista issue...
