Was wondering if anyone could help.

Im in the UK just to make things a bit easier!

I was given a video machine as mine broke, but it came without a power cable.
the bit that plugs into the machine is like holes for 2 pins, exactly the same as the type that you got with the original playstation.
I have loads of these cables lying around, but my problem is the voltage differs.
The video machine says "220-240v ~50hz" and the cable says "2.5/250~ (on the 2 pin end) and 5a 250v on the other end.

I have quite a few things that have that type of cable, and the voltage numbers seem to differ on the unit and the cable for every appliance, so im kinda confused.

Can anyone tell me if this cable would be ok to run the machine?

I'm a little paranoid as i used the wrong cable for a keyboard once and it started smoking after a few minutes of use, so with something thats gonna be perminantly plugged in, i would rather be safe then sorry!

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

(sorry if this is in the wrong section, didnt really know where to put it)

It should be alright to run the machine on that cable, so long as the machine doesn't draw more than 5Amps.
it it draws >5A, then you will need to find a higher rated cable.
