Downloading games and playing them would be the illegal bit, someone should lock this.

well downloading games you pay for isn't, but in general when someone talks about games and downloading its usually illegal.

Hey guys, I'm an active member in a underground scene. We make something called "chiptunes". Basically, we use old game hardware (Gameboys, NES) and old PC's (Commodore 64, Amiga) to make music.

A person very skilled in electronics is attempting a project very similar.

We aren't going to use it for pirated games like you implied. Instead we are going to use it for something called LSDJ, to make songs.

Raz1r, glad your doing that, but that wasn't what the OP fletcherhj was talking about.

run downloaded games on sd cards

There isn't a legal service that I know about that supplies games for use on a gb color through a minisd card slot, or any other for that matter. GB color was to be used with the cartriges.

If he owned the cartriges and got the roms then whatever, but that def isn't what is implied.

This should just have a lock, it hasn't gone anywhere good in a week. And the OP hasn't posted anything showing any legal intentions with this. Im out on this topic.

then he implied that he had already bought them and he broke the cartridge. he never said it was illegal so lets just keep discussing it

I dont see where he said anything about a broken cartridge, and even so, buying a single cartridge is only like <$5

either way i doubt he's coming back.

$5 for GB games.. GB Advance are more.

As mentioned above, lets keep this topic on the legal side of things.

Downloading roms = Dont discuss here.
Modding your GBA to play games you already own = Legal. Discuss. :)

LSDJ to make music from game consoles? AWESOME.. tell me more!

i think it would be kinda cool to have a sd slot on a gbc. wonder if you could like rig an mp3 player to output on the gbc's speaker lol.

IIRC, someone here did a mod where they put an external HDD into an old Gameboy case. I've also seen an Ipod installed into an old gameboy.

I've considered trying to add a backlight to my gameboy color, using LED's and a plexi diffuser, but havent opened it up to attempt it yet.

I personally think that putting either a Zune or Ipod into a gameboy color would be absolutely insane if you could use the buttons, and have the screen work! Can you imagine that? It would look like you were watching movies on a gameboy! People would crap.

no kidding. i know i would. you would have to replace the screen with the ipod's or zune's, though, because the res on the old gb screen would blow.

never thought about hdds in a gb case, thats a good idea. I have an old ipod shuffle that i should scalp and insert into a gb. and make it still play the orig. games and such, just have the headphone jack coincide with the shuffle's and add a usb port. wonder if the board for the shuffle would fit in the case. will have to see if i have a gbc or gbo layin around still ha ha.
