just finished portal and was simply amazed. so i engraved my old antec 900 window with the hl logo. then i realized that i really hate how taht door looks. so i started cutting it. im planning on replacing the cheap plastic that they used with some good sturdy 1/4 inch plexi. it holds and lights up engraving really well. then i realized that i love the orange box so much and have so much spare time that i should mod my computer to it. ill have pics on the door up tommorow after i get home from paintballing with my team. post up your ideas. i was thinking a more elaborate cutout on the backside panel involving all of the orange box games thus far with the orange box cutout in a cool txt up by the top. and of course a kickass paintjob lol.

sound amazing. the orange box is by far the greatest game collection to come out for a looooong time.

maybe youu could have a "portal" fan grill, or have two!

also i think it would be cool if you get the steam and valve logos in there too

anyway, hope this one turns out

who said anything about steam lol. gotta love digitalzone.

hadnt thought of that. i need to filter all my fans tho since i have a lot of dust in my room and epoxy superglue etc in the air. nice thought on the portal fan grills. OOH the aperature science logo. that would make some sweet fan filters. but i cant find a pic of it online.

sorry for no updates within the last few days. im sick with something so im only up for a few hours a day and even then i don really move except to piss and eat. but post up your guys's ideas, the only restrictions i have for the left side indow is i need to have 2 fan holes. one over the gpu area and one over the ram/nb/cpucooler front

ive encountered a little problem. i just realized that theres no space due to my drive bay holders being so close to where the door is to the wall. ill get pics up tommorow. so i need to put the windown on the outside. now of course thisll be hella ugly but i need a fix

I have a fix for you lol.
Ever see this stuff?

Allows you to mount the plexi level with your cut.

Also these may give you a few ideas:

EDIT: Just thought of a problem with that molding. You can only use it on rounder corners unless you cut it.
Your corners will look kinda like this:

Hope this helps.

wow man that stuff would work fansatsic. but my metal is .8mm not 3.2mm lol. and my window is either 2.25 mm or 4.5mm. id rather use the 4.5mm one

I know how you can fix the space issue, well on the metal side anyway. You know that foam door seal you can get to go around door frames to stop dust and wind howl? Well stick some around the cut for the window (inside of the case). When you put the molding on it will sit quite snugly.

And for the plastic side you can cut the back of the molding off and attach the plexi with glue or silicon. This will stop vibration noise but I don't know how strong it would be.

That door seal is also good for drive rails, dampens vibrations a lot.

EDIT: From the link in my other post it says that there is a locking strip on the molding to hold everything firmly.

hmm thanks for all the suggestions. but i realized another problem. i cut the window square. i think ima need to cut out some metal outta something to make round edges the jb weld it back on and bondo over whatever is left on the door panel and make it look cool with something or other.

That would work, I wasn't aware that you had cut the window already.

i just got my idea of what ima cover it up with. not hard at all. the companion box from portal. but just for that window. and of course the heart is going to be a fan grill. surrounded by plexi to scale of the real thing

lol the soudn of cutting metal.... sorta loud. ah well. if anyone can find me a pic of the companion cube that'd be awesome. i cant find any via google. or a fan kit for orange box.

note i have no idea what to do with the rest of the box so help me out with ideas. i know im going to exploit every hole on this thing to gleam orange light lol. and have a resistor or a pot so i can tune it all the way from off to light the room in orange.

i took a few screen shots and labeled what i plan to do. the bondo on the thick part is going to be about 1-1 1/2"

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j286/azminisk8r/companioncube2.jpg

hmm. wadda you think about replacing that entire center part with this (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6455/fan-385/250mm_Silent_LED_Case_Fan_-_Black_Frame_-_Orange.html?tl=g36c15s566) and makeing a custom fan grill to replace the heart in the middle and get a gray fan filter or make one to help it blend in. it would keep my **** hella cool and its got orange leds enough to light the case

note. its hard to find orange led 120's
