It will be at LEAST as long as the 8800GTX. That's almost for sure.

You can expect to have problems putting it in a case. But that's what modding is for; make it fit ;).

PS. This should be in Tech Talk.

Its unofficial, its all rumors, none of the specs have been confirmed, no one will know the length.

In one month there is apparently going to be a new GTS. It was rumored the same time as the GT and that turned out to be true, so those who just bought a GT may be kicking them selvesd in 1 month, and ill laugh. Then realize my GTX gets pwned.

Does anyone know if it exists yet? Any info on it at all?

And will ATI and AMD EVER make another good thing?

i hope so.. or at least ati, i wish they joined up with intel instead of amd

it likely exists, unless nvidia plans to call their cards something different than numbers

I just wish that AMD would release their next gen already... i could care less about ATi, it was a bad move by amd to snap up ATi in the middle of the crunch for building a new set of processors.

I've been waiting for the next greatest graphics card. The 8800GT was good, but that's done with and it's already outdated. The new 8800GTS 512 and ATI HD3870 will be coming out pretty soon. Both of those cards will have 1GB versions. Those two right there is where the real performance is going to be. Not to mention those will both be very affordable.

My last graphics card was an ATI X1900XTX. I've skipped a whole generation of ATI and might now go with the HD3870. For this computer and for my upgrade now, I was going to go with nvidia but ATI always released something a little nicer. For this system I was originally going to go with a 7950GX2, and though it had much nicer performance, I am glad I didn't get that since it's drivers sucked, needed a lot of power and was just generally unwieldy. This summer I was going to but an 8800GTS 640mb, but luckily I didn't quite have enough cash and it forced me to wait until now.

About how much do you consider to be "very affordable"? I'd rather not spend too much more than $200-300 on a video card, and that'll take a while to save up. Since we're talking about new hardware, any clues on when quad cores will go down?

well hopefully i won't be wasting my time getting a 8600GT, i hope the new cards come out in 2 months or more. and it would be nice to see some kinds of specs.

as for the quads, not sure, i hope i have enough for the new quads though once they come out.

Apparently the 9800 is the 8800GT, if it is it's nothing to get that excited about if you intend to get a GTX or a Ultra. The 8800GT performs nearly on par with the GTX at low resolutions but lags behind at the higher ones.

Not really... (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3140&p=9)

Those graphs still prove my point. Pretty much equal at lower resolutions but when they start getting higher the 8800GT lags behind, may not be by much but its a difference, the GTX also has more RAM and that is always good.

My 8800GTX goes under my hard drive a little bit >_>

My GTX just fits in my NZXT LEXA, I have to put it in diagonally then straighten it up. I cut part of the case near the PCI slots to allow better access.
