[utl=http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/]Came across this on another forum[/url]
Tests showing some strange furry blood cell o.O
Decided to do it at 1024x768 with no AA just so everyone else can compare scores easier.
And did one at my Native Res, well native res of screen 1.

I won't even bother, since ATI cards suck OpenGL balls...
On a side note, OpenGL 3 is being released soon. Maybe I'll wait to buy a new card until they have support...

_Supposedly_ ATI cards _should_ be better since SGI ( the original creator of OpenGL) dropped nVidia in favor of ATI because the OpenGL was better, and helped ATI make it better. I will ping my friend to see if that was just on the firegl cards...
I have a nice quadro 3500 laying around so I will test that one as well as my 8800gts 640mb.

Well, my X1600Pro can't render OpenGL stuff for anything. There was a post on the JavaGaming forums about a HDRI lighting test, and, being Java, it was using OpenGL, and my hardware didn't have the right stuff to display it, while Nvidia cards of an earlier time did (6800).
But OpenGL 3 is supposed to blow DX10 out of the water, and with its ability to work cross platform...

A little off topic, sort of;
When I was working at sgi, the OpenGL group struck a deal with M$ to work on a replacement/combination for OpenGL and DirectX under windows and unix. All of the high level engineers were against it, even some of the management team tried to kill the deal, indicating that ALL of the past deals between sgi and M$ had gone sour and sgi was left holding a bag of doo doo. They inked the deal anyway saying that they had built in protections in the contract in case M$ pulled some screwy ****. Turns out they did pull some **** and backed out of the deal after about 9 months taking all the OpenGL tech with them to make direct x better. Sgi was left with nothing. The contract they inked prevented them from using any of the technology in IRIX or linux, but could only use it in windows. The rest of the contract spelled out that they could not legally develop any of the tech for release to the general public. That pretty much spelled the death bell for the agreement to merge OpenGL and directx under windows. M$ took the OpenGL specs and tech they received and modified directx. That is the only reason that directx is as stable as it is today. Shorty thereafter, Several of the graphics design engineers left for nVidia and surprisingly (or not) sgi's graphics tech started showing up in nVidia cards. Lawsuits ensued and sgi got part of nVidia and a contract that guaranteed the top performing cards off of the manufacturing line.
A little tech history for you all.
Back to your OpenGL thread. I promise to test my systems tonight...

CPU is a non-overclocked AMD 3500+ at 2200MHz
OS is in fact: 2.6.22.9-91.fc7 #1 SMP i686 athlon GNU/Linux
It's just that WINE is set up to behave like Win2k.
EDIT: 1024x768
