Hey guys,

I purchased a Super Lanboy and I recently chopped it up a good bit. I'm looking to paint the outside a very dark blue and then do some plexi windows and such.

I was thinking about painting parts of it with a chrome paint but I wasn't so sure that chrome paint works so well.

I'm just bouncing a idea here and looking some input.

thanks!

car shops sometimes do it, but you might have to search around for a specialty shop.

silver leaf could be an option to consider...

yea that is a good point, but it doesnt have the mirror element that chrome does.

Chrome paint works wonderfully, only problem is that "Chrome paint" is a misnomer, it should be called "Lumpy Cloggy Grey/Silver ****". It's all a matter of opinion.

Well there is one good type of chrome paint, being Alclad Chrome. Its for Airbrush though. It does cover really well though and ive never had any problems with it.

Otherwise all other chrome paints are basically a big pile of pants.

Really, cause I thought a big pile of pant would be awesome, I would never have to wash again, just pick a new pair of pant and continue on, it would be like some sort of mythical pant tree. That would be awesome... now what were we talking about?

if you wanted the whole case top look like chrome w/o the cost of realy chrome, buy some chrome paint, and wet sand it for a mirrored look.

I would suggest, just doing a really nice silver job, with a clear coat or do, if you found the right color you could make it look almost chrome by just wet sanding it a lot.

I wonder how much it would cost to by the carbon fiber stuff and put it on a car...

probably cheaper to get it actually done in carbon fiber. Also, according to the site it said the rolls are 2 ft wide. I would think your car would look funny with 2ft wide strips of CF

I could think of a few ways to use it. But then sealing it so it won't come off in snow/sleet/gravel/rain/etc... might be hard.

Well, it IS just fancy contact paper. The suff isn't real carbon fiber, but makes somthing apear to be.

But if you don't want to chrome somthing then add that contact paper to it and will looked chromed.

The alsacorp products are great. I have worked with these products in the past and they have had good results. The bottom line with chrome is that a lot of stuff comes pretty close but nothing compares to the real thing.
