PS2 controller into two parts

Can a PS2 controller be split into two parts? Also, if yes, can a USB connector be added to it?

Obviously, safety & reliability are absolutes.

I'm physically disabled because of Duchenne's muscular dystrophy. Because recovering from pneumonia weakend me even further, all I can use is a trackball & a on-screen point&click keyboard.

I can't hold a PS2 controller because I can't hold my arms together, but if a PS2 controller could be split into two parts, I could probably use it.

Please discuss this& give me your folks thoughts.

It might be possible to split it but they are circuit boards which means it won't be an easy job if it could be done.
