Take a lookie right here (http://www.techpowerup.com/?43698).
Assuming that the $288 is their top performance quad-core, that price sounds pretty damn nice. Lets hope they're as good as/better than the current Intel Quad Cores.
Apparently the Phenom Processors, AMD 790FX Motherboards and (single, dual, triple, or quad) ATI HD3800 series are supposed to all work together to make one insanely performing system. As you might know Crossfire X is only available on the 790FX board, and will be an extremely feature-packed, adjustable, high performing multi-GPU system. Since the prices all seem right for all of the hardware in this set, I might even be able to change my whole platform...

4mb cashe thats it? the new quads are 12mb.... but those prices seem good pending on the performance.

Jesus Indybird, you go through parts faster than anyone I've ever seen before!
And those aren't MSRP prices; they'll be higher still (I'm guessing $350+) and they're only estimates.

Saw this earlier today. All depends if they can match the Intel quads, if not when Intel release octo core next year nothing will stop them lol.

I've got this thing about having somewhat of the latest stuff. I actually don't have a lot of money, its just that I have a lot of people locally who want to buy my parts (and don't know about the newer, not much more expensive stuff). So I sell my parts and then the new stuff is essentially a $50 or $100 upgrade, except I get a whole new platform.
I probably won't switch from my current setup, its just that I was saying how cheap it would be to do so.

Well one thing AMD did well with the x2's when intel came out with the C2D's and quads is slash the prices on their cpu's. If they can't beat intel in the performance market you can expect them to do pretty well with the prices. Just how long they can do that and keep around. They need a heavy hitter and hopefully one will come soon, to keep intels prices low!
Competition is always best for the consumer, lower prices woot.

That'll be nice, Intel processors are already extremely cheap (In my opinion). Imagen an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 for only $100...It could happen with some heavy competition and a little time.
